On 9/11, first responders and survivors at Ground Zero, the Pentagon, and Shanksville carried a weight none of us can fully imagine. The Salvation Army stood beside them from that very first day and for years after, trying to be whatever helped them keep going. When they asked their own responders what actually helped, they all said the same thing: it was the small acts of kindness that carried people through. Twenty-five years later, The Salvation Army is asking people across the country to “Be That Something” for someone in their life. Commissioner Merle Heatwole is challenge viewers to embody the lessons learned twenty-five years ago: that one small act of kindness can make an immense difference to someone carrying an unimaginable weight.
