That is something that you know is coming out loud and clear, colonel, is that you know people are complaining, they're feeling pain here in River City, and you can exercise your frustration and your emotions only so far. So the critical question next is okay, so what are you going to do about it?

0:51 Yeah, exactly. And the critical first step to that is recognizing that when you look in the mirror, you're the cavalry. Know people say that and use that phrase as a cliche all the time. The cavalry is not coming because you're it. Well, that's because it's true, uh and it's accurate. Uh. And you know, unless you can complain, like you said, all day long, but if you're not getting off the bench and taking action and figuring out what's important to you, how to get other people to join you in your efforts, how to raise the resources like money and human beings to get the message out and take actual action. Then you're just spinning your wheels. So we see that a lot, especially on our side of the aisle uh. And when I say our side, I mean the Americans is still believing the Declaration of Independence because there's exactly a bunch that don't.

1:48 Yeah, And that's what I say, Rob, is that it's not about, you know, Democrat or Republican. It's about either you're an American, you believe in American values, this great American idea, or you're anti American. And you know, for a long time we tried to have these discussions with people and we're thinking, Okay, what's wrong here, why aren't we really communicating? Well, the fact of the matter is is that some of us were pretty forthright with our intent and what we saw for America, and there were others that were undermining it very subtly. And now look at the closet doors are open and they're falling out. It's like, you know, when I was growing up, they had the radio show of Fiber McGee's closet, right, and they go, oh, no, don't open the cloud, don't open the conset, and they open the conset and everything falls out, and it's kind of like this is where we are.

2:36 We're at fibroom McGee's closet and they've all it's all falling out. And then you know, and I think the first thing is to assess, all, right, you know what, we've got a problem. I need to take a responsibility on part of the problem because I kind of allowed this. I didn't clean up. I didn't do some things I needed to do as a citizen. I acquiesced and subordinated my authorities to people that I thought I could trust. Okay, shame on me. And the fact of the matter is, as you know, whatever has been created can be uncreated. Right, Oh, absolutely right, it can. Look what we did in seventeen seventy six through seventeen eighty three here and when we created the United States of America, we undid a tyrannical government run by the world's largest and most powerful empire and military because a group of individuals got together, identified the problems appropriately, and worked for a couple of decades to get to the point where there was a signing of that declaration of independence. But that's the most glaring example, but even the example of Europeans coming to the continent in the first place, Like the Pilgrims, they were made up of individuals that asked this question, what can I do about it?

4:01 Uh? And the title of my book is what can you do about it? Because it's it's it's trying to leave a tool for folks that are screaming in the mirror, so to speak, and not realizing that it's them that needs that needs to take the first step and the first actions. Yeah, that old? Is that old? Actually? Colonel? You know you point one finger out, you got three coming back at you. Right, absolutely right, and and quite frankly, uh, the communists in this inside this country are doing a better job at it uh than our side. And that's the other reason why I wrote the book, trying to help overtake that and overcome that, because they constantly out organize us, out fundraise us, and and out act us, especially in the legislative process. That's one of the reasons why we're here is because they've subtly been able to destroy our laws about citizenship.

4:55 Well, they've captured these key institutions, whether it's education, Uh, it's the me, the culture. All these things are going on, you know, Colonel, I see. You know there's a lot of controversy on the w NBA of all places. You know, this is like you know, you talk about the canary and the coal mine. You watch what's happening on a basketball court and how people are responding to a white girl who is a she's a once in a generation type quality athlete, and the way they've come after her and even her you know, her teammate, Sophie Cunningham. It's disgusting. I mean, it got so bad in Seattle. I don't know if you saw it, but one of the owners, the co owners of the Seattle team came out and abused these young girls. They're just guilty of being fans for the w n B A and and she's cussing at him and everything. Well, they put her on time out, she's on the bench for a while.

5:51 Yeah, it's the w NBA is a good example, Bill. I'm glad you brought it up. They are killing the goose that's laying the golden Go back and read your childhood nursery rhymes. Folks from the perspective of they were intended to teach you something, and they come from Western civilization, which has resulted in this country, which is the country that's raised the most people out of poverty, that finally eliminated the institution of slavery within our borders, with the exception of what's going on around the world right now with child sex slavery and human trafficking. That's a form that's the modern form of that institution. But we've made progress on all of those things only because the United States of America existed and the WNBA owners the leadership.

6:47 You know, obviously a majority of the players think it's okay to take the woman who is actually making the league profitable for the first time in its history and getting butts in seats in those basketball stadiums, and they're beating, literally beating the hell out of her on the basketball court. And then Sophie Cunningham comes in. Thank god, somebody finally stood up and pointed it literally, pointed a finger at one of these people. But that's that person she's pointing the finger at. She's she is a victim of Marxist and doctrination from her public schooling. All the way from kindergarten through university. If she graduated from the university, and this is the outcome of that.

7:37 Uh. And this is another reason why I wrote the book. It's a good example because Sophie Cunningham is the one person that took a successful action after what She looked herself in the mirror and said, nobody's helping her. Yes, our leagues destroying itself. I can do, I can do something, figured out what the something needed to be done, and it may have been based purely on emotion, but then she took the action. And now we're off to the races to correct this travesty of what's going on. Again. You know, as you say, Colonel, this is a bit of a micro it's so representative of what's happening in our culture right now, and it demonstrates that Yes, I mean, like I keep saying over and over again, I just I just see the contrast.

8:29 There's a clear contrast. You know. When I was growing up, it was kind of gray. And I think this is kind of what suddenly got us a bit confused, because we thought, Okay, it's. Really not all that bad. It's not necessarily all that good, but you know, it's kind of okay. You know, your truth is your truth my truth, and everything became relative and it became convenient for us to do as we darn well pleased, and so. Now here we are we're paying a price for that. And the next generation is coming in and going, hey, this isn't fair, and they're upset and they're coming up with some conclusions that I say, okay, look at right observation, but wrong conclusions here. And we're going to talk about more of that in just a moment.

And unfortunately, you know this this cohort of young people, many of them, not all of them. 15:40 So he's in that crowd. He works hard, he's known where he works. It's the hardest working individual on the entire in the entire complex that he works at. And when he called in sick recently for the first time, and people called his mother, who works at the same complex, different jobs and different organizations, but and said, hey, your son called it sick. Is everything okay? Because he doesn't do that. So there are some that figured it out. Uh. And and it's it's one of the reasons why I am somewhat obsessed with the school choice legislation getting passed appropriate legislation obviously, uh, and making sure that there are choices available so that we can start the dismantle the experiment, as Corey DeAngelis puts it, of the government schools. Those are the experiment. Man.

16:35 Uh. You know, we parents and neighbors have been teaching children for thousands of years and did very well until this government school experiment. And that's where this stuff is coming from. Bill. That's exactly why that kid has that attitude that, well, I'm going to kick back and get taken care of because that's what I was taught. But but they're doing that with two hundred thousand dollars in student loan that they're not able to get a job, and they and then they blame the wrong place. They blamed the government because that's what they've been taught that it's the government problem. Actually, it's poor government policy that has caused this. And they're voting for the wrong crowd. They're voting for the crowd that wants to implement more bad government policy instead of the crowd that wants to get back to the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution that it was created in that form of government where real good policies can exist, where a single employee family, a single income family, can have a family and a house and some land maybe and be able to do it in an easy way.

17:43 We're in a prosperous country instead of this, well I've got to have two incomes so I can afford such and such a house. Well, we've got to get back to reality. The only way to do that is to start eliminating these government policies that have put them there in the first place, instead of them acting out and getting in some cases violent against the government. They need to run for office and change things, but they need to do it from the right perspective, which is the perspective of the policies that will eliminate these problems. The reason you can't get a job and that you went to college and spent two hundred thousand dollars and you can't get a job in the field is because the universities have been enabled by federal and state governments in order to put programs out there that have that result instead of programs that have the result that you and I expected when we were girling.

18:34 It's modern day slavery, Colonel, that's what they've done. They've indentured these poor kids. And we have sat there, you know, even with our generation, and we've kind of watched this happen and take and now here we are we're having to deal with this, and our kids are upset, and I understand that, and I think that somehow we need to be able to break through the pain that they're dealing with right now and offer some therapy to say, all right, first of all, it's start with us. We have to take self responsibility. Okay, we participated in this. I'm talking about the older generation, the younger kids. You need to understand that you are absolutely precious. You got one life and you're wasting time here and we need to get on track for you to maximize your human potential and to be the best version of yourself because that's the way.

19:23 You were created. And what we have known historically is that when people are productive, that's when they're happiest, that's when they're fulfilled. I mean, you run government surveys. I did you know a deep dive study on this years ago, and what we found out was less than ten percent of the American labor force. This is, you know, a couple decades ago. That was then. It's probably worse now, but less than ten percent had a sense of fulfillment in their workplace. I mean, you think about it. Nine out of ten kids, nine out of ten people are frustrated. They're not happy at what they're doing in all that America has to offer. And so now it's even gotten worse because some of them have checked out. They've gotten frustrated and said, Okay, hey, I'm just going to sit here in the basement of my parents' home. I'm going to play video games and you know, I'll just see what happens. And it's like, wait a minute, you're missing out because meanwhile your peers, like your son, who's out there, he's in the arena.

20:23 He is learning and growing every day in the process. He is going to be leaps ahead of these young kids who are going to wake up at forty and going, oh, hell, I need a job, and. They go, what what do you got? What do you what do you got to you know, to establish an asset of you for the company that says you're worth six figures. Yeah. And I would tell the kids that are doing that right now that don't have jobs in the degree field that they got and they they're paying you know, their parents are paying these loans, I'm assuming, or they're going into arrears on them. I would tell him, Hey, if you don't have a job within six months in that uh, in that educational space that you entered, uh, you need to take a look around. Uh you come down here to the Gulf of America coast in Mississippi and Alabama and Louisiana. Uh. And you can get trained as a welder for free and get a magnificent job in any of the shipyards or oil oil companies that have pipelines, any of those for free. And it's great work.

21:30 It's it's it's very fulfilling because you make things. Uh. That's one of the things that I did for my son in high school was I enrolled him in a free community college class that was paid for by English shipbuilding. I think it was called shipbuilding, and he learned how to weld. And it turns out he was very good at it, very good at it, because he was looking at all this stuff since I was homeschool and I was talking to him about college and everything, and he was looking at all of his peers and and and the things in the media and going these people or nuts, they're going into a quarter million dollars in debt, Dad, and they don't even have jobs yet. I said, yeah. He said, well, I don't really want to do that. So we figured out what he thought he might want to do and started trying stuff out. That's what I would suggest you do. Go try to find the programs that are out there to learn the trade that you might fit well with, and you could be making six figures in very very short order. I've got a nephew that started an HVAC company, never went to college, and now he's a millionaire and it's just been a few years because he was able to land some good contracts and still does home work.

22:38 So well, you see, that goes back. It goes back, colonel, to what you know, what people want out there. You know, if you're good at what you do, you know, and it's amazing that even if you just show up for work every day on time. Do you realize if you do that, you're in the top ten percent of the US labor force. Oh yeah, yeah, just showing up for work. Beck I get from employers these days is when they have a young person that shows up on time, uh and doesn't leave early, doesn't call in sick unless they're really sick, and just does their job at the average level, they are ecstatic with that employee, ecstatic, and they'll give them raises and opportunity more opportunities, very very rapidly.

23:24 Right exactly because the employers know and understand that that's the heartbeat of an organization. You know, good people and when you when you have you know, Unfortunately you've got a generation and these kids, sadly that are wasting their time. And that's what grieves me. And that's why I'm saying we've got to find a way to get through to them to say, look at do not waste your time. I get it, I understand your frustration, but you know what you need to get in the fight as totally. And there are all kinds of programs out there, both private and even public. The one I mentioned about welding. 28:14 Good morning Bill. Hey. Watch to catch up on, in particular right now the brujaja coming out of Seattle, and it continues with the w NBA. Really, I know people are looking at what happened in Seattle and the attack on these two young girls, which is sad, especially when it came from an owner and there was some other parents, you know, nearby. Particularly, I saw a father of one family. He was just very belligerent and disgusting and ruined towards these young girls. And you know, people may look and say, well, you know that was attack on the young girls, but really the attack is on God himself, because all they're doing is standing with God. You know, God's declaration going back to Genesis, is that he says himself.

29:02 I made them male and female. That's God saying that, not the WNBA, not any socialists, anybody else that wants to rewrite the laws of man to fit their own persuasion and their own proclivities. Yeah. On a couple of fronts. This is troubling and needs some recalibration by the truth that God gives us. First of all, those girls said thank you to the NBA player that gave him the tickets because they were grateful, and they were grateful that she affirmed their ability to set with the way God designed us in the image of God. Yeah, you know, we're creatures of God. We didn't create ourselves. We don't manufacture and invent our identity.

29:55 We don't have to earn or establish or have a sexual identity or make a statement about our sexual orientation and behavior to have an identity. We receive our identity as a valuable masterpiece. Yes, flawed, of broken and sinful, but so valuable that God would die on the cross for us and take place so we could be back in his family and get adopted as his daughters and his sons. So they were saying, thank you for affirming that we have the image of God in us male female, and we don't have to get pressured and told you need to recreate yourself. You should recreate yourself. Your feelings should drive your identity. And so that's the number one thing they were thanking God for and that owner was railing against us being the image of God, receiving identity from him being male and female. Next partner's troubling is wait, but.

In doing that, rejected her own identity, right because when she attacked these girls in saying, hey, you don't know what you're talking about in so many words, well, then you know who is she? Well, and I wanted to move to the next step. Yeah, being made in the image of God is being made a person of shalom of peace. Yes, what does God describe himself as in the Bible? Love? God, Love? We love because God loved us first. Jesus is the manifestation of love. He loved us so much. While we are still rebellious sinners, Christ died for us. Love is what heals. Love casts out fear, and love sets you free.

31:49 That woman that was upset, the owner of the team that ran across. If you asked her philosophy, she said, I believe in love. I believe the world should be loving and tolerant and kind and friendly. But then in her behavior towards an ideology or a position that's different because she's rejecting God's blueprints and design. She gets angry, ugly, belligerent, mean, she got kicked out of the league for five weeks because of it, even though the leak kind of is supportive of the progressive liberal perspectives. So she was rejecting the image of God, which is loving human beings. And that's what someone talks about. It says that we're blessed when we don't follow the ways of the world, the wicked ways, the sinning ways, the opposite of God's ways, but said, we delight in the Lord and his law, and his law has been summed up by Jesus. I'm the way, I'm the truth, I'm the light. Every command, every instruction all comes down to love, love God and Holy and love your neighbor as yourself. That would guide those girls sitting in the audience, that would guide the player that gave them the tickets, that would guide the owner who had a different opinion, but would still respect them and not run across yelling right right. So God's way is delight in God and his ways, which is a Jesus and be the ways Jesus modeled love and truth.

He would call out evil and negative and damaging behavior, but he would always do it in love, because the Bible says, let everything be done in love. That is God's motive, that's our motive. And psalone takes us right there. You're blessed, happy and joyful, like a tree that bears fruit in the good seasons and bad seasons. You're resilient, you're prosperous, you're fruitful if you delight in God and his ways. Yeah, it goes back to what we've talked about how many times, Jeff, now about a simple thing like grab This is something God showed me years ago, is that, you know, kicking against the gods of God and his nature and what He's designed for us is like to find gravity. I mean, you know, we learned quite instantly that when you define gravity there's painful results. But you know, going back to what you were saying earlier, just looking at how God the Psalmist writes about how miraculously he weaves us together in our mother's womb. Yes, I mean, and nine months later we come out and it's a miracle, this baby and all you know, eyes toes ears I mean, and then as it develops the way God designed it to develop. Even in the midst of an evil world, in a sinful world, it's still is true to the design that God had set forth when he created that child.

34:56 Right well, baby has mind, imagination, vision and creativity and grows up to be Claude Monet and thinks some littlest beautiful or or Beethoven, or I got great athlete, a Patrick Mahomes, or a virtuoso in the symphony okay, or a doctor who heals people people, or a doctor Martin Luther King who reconciles and heals people in the face of justice. God makes these masterpieces. And when we live into our identity as His sons and daughters who are ambassadors for reconciliation and the love of Jesus, we become good gardeners of this garden He put us in great signs of life. We run our radio show, We do our marriage. We do our husbanding. We do our wifing.

But if we if we can exchange, hey, this is what I'm getting out of this. So I'm getting I mean, we get a broader picture and a better understanding, and we're blessed because of that. Right, And and it's interesting, you know you mentioned Psalm one Uh, you know, the Psalm misunderstood that the times would be would be challenging, that that he didn't say we're living in some utopia, that it was going to be challenging. But it also said that even in the challenges, if you're true to God, if you're doing God's best, you'll get God's best even in the worst of times.

43:40 So you know, I wanted to talk to you because rumor has it that Jim Daly is looking to you know, wrap things up. I mean, he's had a stellar career there with focus on the family, got it through its transition, you got He's got a twenty year track record of just excellent service and growth and development with focused on the family. And now they're posting a search for his replacement. Hunh Right. And this is not anything that's surprising to anyone that any of the leadership that focused on the family, nor the board. The board is won in fact, that's instigated this search, and it's been talked about for a couple of years. Jim's talked about when is the right time to sort of exit stage left, And so yeah, it's not a rumor, it is. Indeed, the transition is kicked off.

44:36 He's been president for more than twenty years, but he's not going anywhere. It appears quickly, in other words, by it appears process has begun candidates have applied, but he estimates as a member of the board that the transition could take twelve to eighteen months to complete. So Jim will still be around for a bit. Well, the advantage of having him around you got twenty years of his leadership and to hand off the baton to the next president of the organization and to be there and help him or her with the nuances that you know happen in any organization. It's invaluable that you're having that kind of prudent opportunity to do this type of transition.

45:26 Yeah, I mean that is Jim's heart, in the board's heart in this process is to set the next leader of Focus on the Family up for success. So here's the good news. Unlike many some organizations, there's no there's no scandal here, there's no rush here, There's there's really just good stewardship here. Jim wants to steward and the board wants to steward the future of the organization well and give his successor the most healthy, robust industry that can be given. So that's why it's starting now. But that's also why it's not being sped up. And the one thing we know I'll add this bill. People have asked, you know, how long is it going to take? As I said, we've we've sort of guessed the mated twelve to eighteen months. But this is something I can tell you for certain, and you know this for certain too, and that is the timing is going to be the Lord's timing. When the Lord has the right person in place, I'm going to say, the reigns are focus on the family.

46:28 That person will will indeed take the reins right exactly. And as you say, that's going to be key, you know, to this timeline. You know, you you get the right fit and things move along, you know, pretty smooth. And and that's what happens when God selects the person and the right person comes into play. You know, more times than not, it's a smooth transition. And I think a lot of it has to do with the culture, a focus on the family. It's it's not like you're in the middle of some kind of junta, kind of disturbance of the forest or anything like that. You know, Jim Daly has done a great job in leading the organization all these years. And so the only other thing I think that our audience may want to know, is is there anything to expect differently during this transition in the meanwhile.

47:18 Yeah, obviously the difference and we saw it happen from doctor Dobson who founded Focus on the Family to Jim's presidency. The personalities of those who are leading are different. But what the person who will be the next president and Focus on the Family believes the chief thing we're looking for. I've been asked in interviews, you know, what are some things that you're looking for in a new president and what the board is looking for. And I'm going to look this up to make sure I get it right. Looking for someone who has it is true to the biblical principles on which Focus was founded and on which Focus has operated for the last fifty years. That's really what we're going for. So and one of the reasons Bill that you're stuck with me as an interview here and not Jim at this time is that Jim is not interested in taking a victory lap. He's not interested in talking about his quote unquote legacy at this point.

48:13 He really wants to He's focusing all of his attention right now on making sure that his successor inherits a ministry as healthy and robust as it can possibly be. So he's not doing interviews right now because he doesn't want to make the story about him. The story is about Focus and where Focus is going eventually under new leadership. Right, And I think that's wisdom, Gary, you know, that's exercise and that's good, good leadership. As we understand, this is going to be a multi phase process, and this is another reason why you know, President Daily has to keep his hand on the gears, right, Yeah. I mean he definitely wants to make sure that everything that his successor needs to succeed, they have and that includes, right, as you indicated, his institutional knowledge, but also you know, his insights on the donor community, his insights on all of those things that he's picked up over these last twenty years, some of the programs he started, and it is it's an exciting time for Focus on the Family to ponder what life is going to look like, what ministry is going to look like under what Jim has called, right, what we're looking for here is a next gen leader, next gen leadership. He is going to be sixty five soon, and he's decided that the time has come to hand

49:43 the organization over to the next gen leadership. So we're excited about what that's going to bring. Kind of amazing. You know, here he is all these years that he's been involved with Focus and he doesn't look sixty five. No. I mean, unlike some presidents, including you know, the President of the United States. You watch them age, you know, in four years here, Jim has been involved with Focus, what for over twenty years? He's been there. Yeah, he's been at Focus for thirty seven years. Thirty seven years. And I mean if you'd ask me, guess guess how Jim dad, I would not have come up with sixty five.

50:24 Yeah. Well I will tell him that and he will be very happy about that. He'll tell me and he would tell you he feels it. Sometimes. I was gonna say a fee and looking yeah right right, yeah, Well he unfortunately he hasn't checked his outside, is not checking with his inside yet. So that's okay. So I guess the key. Takeaway in all this that in terms of praying for leadership and this what we ought to do is we need to come together and pray for wisdom for you know, the committee that is going through and checking all these candidates out that that they're listening to the spirit of God to find that right person that has that solid grounding, that biblical worldview that is so vital, and that it has become such a byproduct and a consistent commitment of focus on the family.

51:11 Is that fair to say? Oh? Absolutely, it's interesting. But one of the things I've said in my career focus hiring many people is that the great thing about hiring people that focus on the family is that you've got you as the hiring manager right praying for the right person. You've got the person who's applied praying for the right opportunity, and you've got the HR department praying to bring the right person forward. You've got three people praying to God that the right person lands. And in this case it's the board who's doing it. It's Jim as a member of the board, and the outgoing president and whoever the candidate will be who will become president. You've got three groups of people praying that this turns out right. And I think the odds are good that God is going to honor that.

51:59 It's an interesting time because when Jim took over and when he first started focused different deal, social media wasn't at the point that it is, and as you said, you're looking for a new zen gen leader, so to speak. I think that's what you said, how you put that, and that's key because you know, marketing has taken on a whole different complexion altogether with social media and also with the you know, with the things that that the young people are more interested in today as opposed to twenty years ago. Oh for sure. And you know we've noted right that the things that families are calling reaching out to focus for help on now are different than they were twenty years ago and Jim became president. You know, subjects like transgenderism and you know, all of those kinds of things that are that are in on social media, that are in the culture. Those were not really big issues for families when Jim took over twenty years ago as president. So yeah, that's one of the things is someone who is, as Jim says, a next gen leader who can reach out to those families that we're serving today in addition to the ones that we've served for the last twenty thirty years, but the ones today who particularly thirty and forty something families who have different issues that they're dealing with. The board is going to really deep dive on those things so that we find again the right person. Is interesting to say, but it's not really the right person. It's God's person.

Well, we've been talking with Gary Sneberger, the Assistant to the President for media relations, with the News Bulletin that Jim Daly has already started the process. He and the board have started the process to look for his replacement. I know Jim is not understand in doing a victory lap, but as his representative, maybe you can give us some highlights in this last minute that we're together. Oh yeah, I mean, I'm the victory lap guy, so I'm happy to do that, Jim. Under Jim, we start the weight No More adoption program. Oh, for sure. And Jim said when he transitioned, right the transition for doctor Dobson to Jim, someone said that very thing to him. You've got big shoes to fill.

I mean, we we need a revival if by God's grace and mercy, America is going to get another chance until we you know, if we're not, you know, on a traject we're on a trajectory anyway to the final chapter of the Book of Revelations, all right, and so we know we're going to end up there.

Right, meaning that there's just not enough of a remnant of people left who are willing to preserve Western civilization and America who historically, at least in the last century or two, has been the strongest adherent of Western values. And so if America falls, Western civilization as we know it might be done. Although what's happening in Italy is very interesting, that's a radio show for another time. I mean, they're banning gay marriage, they're banning the gays from getting kids.
