Always good to have this time to check on things, especially it just seems like more and more all things California these days. As you ride California, voters may soon decide whether to impose a one time five percent wealth tax on billionaires. Should the rest of us be worried?

0:49 Well, if you live in one of the states, the eight states with no income tax, you will likely get more billionaires, high tech people, people who create wealth moving to your state bringing jobs with them if you live in California. Just by saying they're thinking about it. This legislation has not passed. It will be on the ballots. Got enough signatures now, they say, and it sounds right that it will be. On the November ballot. The governor had said he opposes it, Will he really spend money against it? Will the left politicians go, we shouldn't show our hand this soon. We should shut up and pretend we aren't for this stuff. My guess is that it may well pass, although there's going to be a competing measure on the ballot which may defeat it.

1:40 But the fact that it was discussed, the fact that the unions in California said, we want more of your money so that we can get paid more than everybody else in the state. Unionized government workers should be paid more than everyone else. They shouldn't have to work as many hours. They should retire sooner. They should retire with incredible pensions. That's what government is for. That's what this is about. This is about taking money from people who created wealth and created companies and hired many people to hand it over for high pensions that none of us get the real world. For government workers, it is taxing people who create jobs to pay for people who live off the government and taxpayers.

2:21 You know, Grover, a lot of people don't understand that these pensions they get, it's guaranteed, I mean every year. I mean, if they don't like, if their investments don't meet you know, meet the standard, then it's up to the taxpayer to pay the difference. Right. Yes, in the real world, people have defined contribution pensions. You put in ten percent of your salary, your company puts in ten percent, and that builds up over time, and then you retire on that. But you're never in a position where you're owed money from anybody else, or where you owe money. You know exactly the value of your retirement. If you work for the government. Often workers put nothing in themselves and the government puts in the money, and it's not enough to pay the benefits that they've promised workers. And when they promise them, they can't change that.

3:19 That's a contract. Heck, in Illinois they put it into the constitution. They realized they were so out of whack they have no way to raise that money. They put in the constitution that they will have to pay their retirees who retire younger than you and me or anybody else, and get more pay than you and me and anybody else, And they just keep getting more and more and more. And in New York they just had a debate about increasing the already very lucative contracts and pensions that New Yorkers had negotiated in the past. It no, we want more, Yeah, well why not. I mean they've been able to get away with it. But you know, meanwhile, you think that, particularly in these blue states where they're out of money anyway, but they keep finding ways to spend more money that they don't have, and it's like, when does somebody just say, uncle, you know, we can't do this anymore.

4:12 Well, the Democrats can't do that because their coalition is built about groups and structures that all demand access to other people's money. You've got the trial lawyers that want laws that allow them to sue people that, you know, if they spill their coffee. They want to be able to sell sue McDonald's for a million dollars so that McDonald's workers get paid less, so that the trial lawyers can't a hunk of the million dollars. You've got the labor union bosses that want more union dues and more government money and more contracts. And the big city political machines people on welfare, people who make one hundred and fifty thousand dollars managing other people on welfare. They're not on welfare, but they might as well be And they're making a lot more money for people on welfare, and they make sure none of those guys get jobs and become republic So they want more and more people locked into welfare dependency every single day. So the entire left's coalition depends on somebody going out and stealing money from taxpayers and giving it to them. There is no end.

5:16 They will fight amongst each other. You know some people in California who are left go, oh, you shouldn't show your hand this soon. You shouldn't make it too obvious that your pensions are bigger than everyone else's. You'll get us all in trouble. All they're telling you is be quiet, we'll get to you. We're not telling them though. Yeah, you just get elected like Spamburger, and then you can let them see the cards, right boy. Virginia, on the other side of the continent, there was a woman who claimed to be moderate. She just signed a slew of tax and spending, many many new taxes, massive new regulations, raising the cost of everybody's home heating, oil, everybody's air conditioning. It is getting more and more expensive.

6:00 Women's only been in office for a month or something, and she's out destroying the affordability of Vermont well and and I mean, you know, you talk about the way of some of these governments are attacking the wealthy, and they're and they're doing so blindly, particularly in New York, because here you've got these billionaires that are bringing jobs that contribute so much to the you know, day to day costs of New York, and now you want to tax them again. And they're going to go Astelabisco. Baby, you know, I'm going to Miami. And the governor of New York said the other day before the election said, if you want to leave, we don't care.

If you don't like our high taxes, leave And just a couple of weeks ago, she said, if you're visiting down in Florida, would you talk to those guys and ask them if they'll come back, literally leaving with them to talk people into coming back. The French guy who to write the let's tax billionaires of Chris. Remember the amendment to allow a tax on billionaires wealth does not anywhere in there say only billionaires. This will allow the legislature, with a simple majority vote, to decide not billionaires, millionaires, not millionaires. People who make one hundred thousand dollars a year.

This is not a the advertisers tax on billionaires, so that they think you're stupid and you haven't read it and you don't know that with a tweak, not a constitutional amendment, not a vote to the people. Again, the politicians will take If you vote yes on that amendment, you give them, the politicians the right to have a property tax on everyone. The state could do a property tax on your house, yeah, to your local government. Yeah. And they're talking of got an exit tacks now too. Well, if you're going to govern like the East Germans, you better be willing to shoot people on the way out or they will leave.

8:08 Right right and so now, And of course California's been trying to do this because I know when I left California, they tried to chase after me, and my accountant just laughed, said, don't worry about it. But another person that I knew was a one time partner. She ended up paying like three thousand dollars just to get them off the back. You know, they just kept pestering her. In Ohio, which is now being governed better, but a number of years ago it was pretty bad. People. A lot of people are leaving Ohio. Lawyers told people who were moving, if you moved to Florida, if you moved to Tennessee, you must stop giving money to your local church, stop giving money to your local charities, the local boy scouts, anything that ties you, because I would say, oh, you haven't really left, right Your same doctor or your same dentist can't come back and use the doctor or dent because that means you haven't really moved out to Florida.

You know, it is amazing to me, and I know it's amazing to most Americans here, because you know, you just keep asking these blue state governors and that when when is enough enough? I mean, what is it going to take? Grower?

14:22 Well, we just had the news that the governor of Maine has announced she's not running for Senate anymore. She was the moderate who was maybe going to be able to win that Senate seat for the Democrats. And they had the crazy person who's that calls himself a communist and wear's Nazi tattoos and things like that. That's the guy who's been winning. So what did the woman who wanted to be thought of as a moderate too, Well, in order to chase after the voters who were going for the guy with a that's the socialist thing on their tattoo and a history of supporting Communis and saying nice things about socialism, in order to look more like that to win in the Democrat primary, she supported a higher tax rate on higher income people, exactly the kind of taxes that drive people out of California and New York and now Massachusetts and now Maine. But that wasn't enough to keep her left wing people happy. They've turned on her. She's not running again, but Maine is going to pay with higher taxes and people leaving Maine because she wanted to be the most left wing person she could.

15:38 This is part of her campaign. This was an illegal campaign contribution to her to get the legislature to say, let's go steal money from these you know, several thousand people that vacation stay in Maine in their retirement who will now go someplace else. Grover, This is this is so concerning because you know, you and I talked about this last week. I mean, you've got half of the country things conservative and you know, appreciates conservative policies and votes for conservative policies. And then you've got the other half just bathing in fraud, waste abuse and more taxes, and you know, and what's going to be galling is because you know, the Blue states are going to be coming with their hat in hand, you know, begging the government to give them more money because they've run out of money.

16:30 We very much need to make sure that the Republicans have the Presidency, the House, or the setup, preferably all three. As long as you have one, you can stop them from passing a federal law which bails out failed states. That is what they will have to do. They will need to borrow trillions of dollars and give it to various states to try and keep those states from falling apart. They haven't been able to do that as much as they'd like, but watch for it. Which is why if you're in a state that isn't crazy, you can't afford to vote for a Democrat who is going to vote to bail out California, New York, Illinois, and now Illinois not only wants to have a gasoline tax, they would have a mileage tax on top of that. That's the new thing. Just just the last couple of days they announced this is we're going to have a study that a bunch of Democrats are going to read and they go the study says we should do this, and you'll have you'll be you'll have to pay for it, how many miles you drive, you have to come in and they'll look at it. This is theoretically to force electric cars.

17:39 They subsidized electric cars, ye, right, in order to get people to buy them. Then they say, oh, but we don't get a gas tax from you, so we should have a mileage tax. Why are you subsidizing something and then taxing it. It's become a joke what the left is doing. Reagan's comment, right, if the left says, if it moves taxes, if it keeps moving regulated when it stops moving, subsidize it. Right, exactly, Well, And the Democrats don't even wait for it to stop moving. They're just happy to, you know, to subsidize things. Especially like you said, with eb cars and all that and all those things. How much did it contribute to the inflation that we're dealing with today.

18:21 Grover Well, taxes lead to higher taxes make everything less affordable. When you get a tax cut at the state level, a local level, federal level, you walk into the grocery store, Everything in the grocery store is more affordable to you because you're paying lower taxes. Your take home pay is increased. Even if the top part of your paycheck doesn't get bigger, what you get to take home is bigger with a tax cut, tax cuts are paying increases. They make life more affordable. The other side of that is increasing taxes reduces your pay, reduces your take pay. You may say you made it this much money, but after taxes you got a pay cut. Tax increases are pay cuts. And so Democratic governors around the country are campaigning on I'm going to cut your pay. Now they generally say I'm going to cut somebody else's pay.

19:17 But well, of course that's the way the whole income tax system came into play. Right, Oh, we're going to go after those nasty people that make so much money, that top one percent and that lasted for about a year, right. Yeah, it's only about a one percent. We're paying the income tax. You had to make more than eleven million dollars to be in the top bracket. The top bracket was seven percent. Today the lowest bracket is twice what the highest bracket used to be. You know, the Democrats, it's in their DNA. They just they they're really not concerned about the people. And I'm and I'm wondering, you know, Grover, I was thinking the other night, when do the people finally say, okay, pay up all this money that you've borrowed from our social security fund that they're telling us is going to go bankrupt in thirty three or thirty four. Why don't we the people get together and say, hey, we're calling the note.

20:13 You need to pay it, because if we can get some of that money diverted into into social security, it'll be less money for them to waste and steal. Maybe well, our friends on the left have a coalition of voters that all depend on tax dollars being taken from working people and given to them, whether it's people on welfare. Government employees have bigger pensions than anybody else in the world, that get higher pay for less hours work, that work fewer days in a month, fewer years in their lifetime. They demand more and more money from taxpayers, so there is no end to their demand. Welfare people give us more. Welfare people get. Government contracts are corrupted and cost much more than they should. They want more and more cash, so there is no ability The Democratic Party cannot fix the problem that they don't see as a problem. They see it as the way they live.

21:15 Yes, right, it is a way of life, there's no doubt, because that's how they get elected. But you know, just as they have built up a constituency. And I know you've done this with you know people, as you continue to educate people about tax reform and that. But we really need to augment that constituency in such a way. I mean because you figure, look at if eighty thousand people, eighty thousand somalies can control Michigan. I got to think that, you know, three five million fair minded Americans as a voting block could create a lot of havoc on a on a good side, what do you. Think, Well, I think we've been winning elections recently. We need to make sure everybody gets to the polls. Please vote.

That's part of the reason why they shut down the government is they want to claw back that money from the big beautiful bill, right yep. If the truth be known, that's the bottom line. Well, we got to leave it there. You can steal on that for a while, but make sure you do something about it with your vote this time. Okay.

And it's a big, big setback having shut down oil well and then all the proble expensive getting it started again. That's number one. Number two.

You couldn't go near it for one hundred years, maybe different things that could be done there. So I think now that we're moving the wheels of the atturny, we've been so effective with everything else, I think that

So I went and looked at my old tapes and part of my act was doing a handstand reciting poetry. Okay, well that's three minutes that I can't do. What else did I do? So I started to appreciate the handstand and then I realized I had photos of me doing it since I was born, and my father doing it because he was a women's gymnastics coach, right, and I had pictures of him doing it on top of his Ford Opera coop in nineteen fifty nineteen fifty at and really great pictures like that. And he took a

57:35 picture of me on my first car when I was a teenager, and I realized and then I started thinking, Wow, now that I'm doing stand up in cities all across America and Canada and sometimes Europe, why don't I take a handstand photo in every city as a souvenir. And then I also wrote poems since I was a child, and I wanted to put them all together, my poems on my handstand chronologically to look at my life from child to old lady and see what it looked like. And then when I got so I've always had that in the back of my mind. And then when I got diagnosed with stage four terminal, inoperable metastasized breast cancer two years ago, I thought, well, I better do it now, you know, get your things in order. Like God said to Hezekiah, you're gonna die soon, get your things in order.

Well, you didn't have to, but he would teach anyone who was willing. He loved teaching gymnastics. He had a passion for it. And so we had a gym in our backyard. He taught classes every day after school, and up until he was eighty years old, he was teached.

You have to balance, so I would scrunch up my fingers and wiggle your elbows trying to find the sweet spot where your legs will balance.

I love autobiographies and memo and I listened to them on tape every night, so I thought, well, maybe someone will get a kick out of it. Well, this is so cool because you know, like you said, I mean, we're talking handstands, but we're also talking you know, a big part of your life has been writing poetry. You've written all your life. Were you were you kind of like writing out of the womb? Well, I was church out of the womb, and I think that they sang rhymed years I spent in vanity and pride, caring. Not my lord was crucifi, No, not, it was for me. He died a cow. So I think that I heard poetry a lot as a child in church. And then when I was sixty five, me and my husband went on a Greek cruise, and that's the part then on and.

1:10:03 So so when you're when you're taking right, I mean, you and your husband, nice time together everything, and you go, hey stop, I gotta go do a handstand. He's going, oh, he just it's just it comes with the package, right. Well, my family's used to it now, funny you should say that, and they they're they're so used to it, and it's a big ordeal because you got we had to stop the cab in at the Parthenon, and the cab driver got a ticket because she wasn't allowed to stop there. But that was the perfect view of the part for the hands. Then you have to make sure where your hands are. Sometimes I was on snow, sometimes gravel which hurts your hands. Yeah, you have to think about oh millions of different problems. The best handstands are the ones that are dangerous, like on a high wall or the Martini glass back, but the Poconos which is thirty feet high, you know. But the poems, here's the and there's stories too, But the main thread of the whole book is how God's word helped me through my every problem in my life because I became a Christian when I was six, I asked Jesus into my heart and ever since then, God has helped me and been with me like he promised he would. And the Lord's going to go with me through the adventure of death soon.

1:11:35 And I wanted to encourage people, and I sprinkled the Bible in through my story because it is a big part of the story. Right as you passed from this life into eternity, and it's like it's a rebirth, isn't it. When you think about it. I know that when my dad passed, God gave me a lot of comfort. My dad and I were really close, and God gave me a lot of comfort to see my father being born into eternity and Jesus being there to meet him. That just gave me so much comfort. Huh. Well, I was asking God when I die, could it please be no fear, no sadness, and no pain.

1:12:18 And then one day I thought, oh, that would be in my sleep. So now I'm saying, Lord, you're the boss, when I die, could it please be in my sleep? Right? Exactly? Well, hey, look at we don't have the Bible says because we don't ask, right, that's right, So we get to ask. So here all that you've been dealing with, dealing with the terminal disease, and of course you're still Victoria Jackson. You take it with a smile on your face. I mean, your faith is what animates you, what gives you hope, what gets you up every morning. I mean, and I think that the last time we ran into each other, we were in Tennessee, and that's when you told me that you were you were dealing with with the breast cancer at that point, and so I'm glad that we have a chance to meet up and talk and you know, celebrate your new book and share with our audience. Uh, you know, the fun and animation that is the one and only Victoria Jackson.

1:13:20 Thank you, Bill. Yep. I'm dealing with pain now, like cancer is different for everyone, and I figured I can endure anything if there's no pain involved. Well, now I've got pain on my hips and my pelvic bone is covered in cancer. But they're not sure if the pain is coming from the cancer on my pelvic or just arthright, is from millions of handstands. Right, Yeah, So I have pain pillows and they make me tired, and that's my new thing. Last year, they found a tumor in my windpipe and the news all over the world said Victoria Jackson two years to live. She's going to suffocate to death, which is kind of what I said on my Instagram but a little exaggerated. And they radiated that tumor and now I can breathe. Great.

1:14:21 Well, thank you. Look at that. The medical field is doing great with cancer. They have a lot of ways they're helping people stay alive longer. But the thing is, what's one day or two days, fifteen years goes. Like that exactly exactly. To be ready to meet God. Yeah, and I'm glad you said something about breathing. I think that's one aspect of our humanity. The way God has designed us is that we underestimate the power of deep breathing and what that does, not only in relaxing you, but in cleansing you and that sort of thing. And I have made that part of my daily devotion. I'm going through my devotion, I'm reminded, you know, to breathe deep, you know, and to go through that exercise. It's it's amazing what that does, you know, just a simple exercise of breathing, you know, right.

1:15:12 Breathing is big. When I healed from the radiation, I was like, breathe again. I thank God all that. Every day I go Lord a million, thank you. There's so many things to be grateful for, and breathing is one of them. Exactly well, as we are, you know, in your life, as it is preparing and God has been preparing to receive you, and as your journey continues here and looking back at your legacy, as you said, you came to the Lord at the age of six, the things that you've experienced with God through your years here on earth.

1:15:56 What do you want to tell the readers in our audience that would be lasting for them in terms of you know what God has done for you. Well, first of all, when I was doing my audio book, I noticed that I left out a lot of things I'm ashamed of, and I thought, well, I think I should tell people that I'm a sinner, because why do we need a savior if we don't have any sin? And when we share the Gospel with people the good news that Jesus died for our sins, rose from the dead so we could have eternal life with him, we got to start at the beginning. We have sin, yes, Romans three twenty three. All have sin and come short of the glory of God Romans six twenty three. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord. So when I did my audio book, I threw in a couple tidbits of things I'm ashamed of because I think, you know, it's not a tell all, but but I know what sin and shame is, and I'm so grateful to be Jesus saved me from it. Right, what I would tell people. I would tell people they should read the Book of John and really read the Bible every day, and it's bread for your soul and and and Jesus and pray and he can help you through anything exactly.

And he was asked if he had any regrets, and the only regret he said that he had was that he didn't spend more time in the Word of God. Wow, how was that cool? I love that. That blessed me so much for him to say that. What I live on is every word that comes from the mouth of God. We have all these beautiful projects where students aren't just learning content in their classrooms, they're using what they learn to make a real difference out in their communities. Well, you know what you are answering here is what a lot of students have asked, even in the days when I was going to school, is going you know, we'd asked the teacher, why are we learning this? How does this relate to real life? And here we are.

1:25:20 You know, this is what l education is doing, which is awesome, blending academics with real world learning. Right absolutely, you really hit the nail on the head. So EL Education. We're a national nonprofit. We partner directly with public schools and we want to make learning meaningful for students. We want to help empower young people to feel confident, capable, and ready to actually make a difference in the world. Let's talk about the kinds of projects and service activities that students are showcasing during this week.

So students are the ones who are identifying what they're truly passionate about, helping to design solutions, and then executing getting out there in the community and doing the thing. So we have students who are supporting food pantries, going to shelters, leading environmental projects, and then also organizing big community events where folks from the community, including their families, can come into the school learn, you know, more about what they've been studying and how they can get involved. In some places, students are assembling care packages and working directly with local partners to get them to the folks who need them the most. And in other communities they're tacking food access or environmental challenges. And the through line to all of it is really simple. Students aren't waiting to be older.

1:27:08 They're stepping in now. Taking responsibility and seeing that they can really make a difference. You know, Jessica, I love this idea and what you're doing because what you're making available to these young kids is something that they naturally have an affinity for. And I imagine, you know, this must be really rewarding for you to see how these kids gravitate that. You're not putting them into some you know, set Petri dish of some sort. You're just saying, hey, look at the world's your oyster. Take the giftings and talents and the passions you have and go out and do some good out in the community. Huh. Yep. Absolutely. I taught middle school for a decade and most people when you say that, they're like, oh, middle school, how frightening. But you know what I learned is students, especially at that age, have such a strong understanding of what's right, what they think really needs to happen in the world, and so empowering them with knowledge, you know, empowering them with academics and skills and content, and then really you know, helping them get that out into the world.

1:28:14 You know, at the end of the day, they don't have to wait to make a difference. They can do it right now. You really are giving them a voice here, right. Absolutely, and they totally deserve it because woo, I mean what compelling just narrators they are, of their stories of why things matter, you know, of like really getting people excited and involved. Yeah, well, you know, because they have a first line experience and maybe they don't express it the way as adults we think they should. But when you listen to these kids, I mean they're right on point. I mean, I tell you, if you want to be blessed, spend some time with a young person and then just listen.

1:29:01 Don't judge what they're just listen to what their heart is expressing. Right, Jessica, Absolutely right. And I think that Better World League really makes this opportunity where folks can learn alongside young people and take action alongside young people. So you mentioned some of the things that were happening in Massachusetts, you know, so Conservatory Lab charter school right in Boston, you have eighth graders who are taking the lead on a full scale benefit concert. They have done all the work from selecting the cause that's going to be benefit benefited, to organizing all the logistics and doing the performance. So every student contributes both on stage and behind the scenes. It's just really remarkable.

1:29:46 Wow, that's great. You know, I love it because you know, I've often said in my evaluation of opportunities like that is that you know, kids all they want is a canvas. Give them a canvas to paint on. And whether you give them a canvass or not, they're going to find a napkin, you know, while they're at London, or they just can't help an express them. But what a great opportunity to give them this kind of venue and this opportunity for them to be able to express their God given talents. Yep. And I think the other thing that's remarkable to is Better World Week provides this opportunity for students to realize that they're part of something bigger than just themselves. So it's bigger than them. It's bigger than their classroom, than their school, than their local community. They get to really experience during this week the fact that there are young people all over this country who are passionate and who care and who want to create a better world. They get to see what those young people are doing and feel the power of being part of that movement themselves.

Now is this the maiden flight or has Better World Week been around for a long time and we just haven't heard about it, Jessica, it has. Been growing for over six years. You know, I do work with young leaders all over the country, and they can remember back and talk about what it was like, you know, as a second grader, So when they're seven eight years old, the work that they did and how that impacts them down the road.

I think that's remarkable. And it's a Hollywood movie, not one of these little Christian fly by night movies.

I would think it's going to be wonderful and you can talk about David being a shepherd and how important a shepherd is and Jesus saying he's the good shepherd, because Hugh Jackman in this movie is the good shepherd. There's some great spots, but they've also added a little bit of the villain now is a woman who's trying to make a conglomerate. So there's a little spill over there. I'd say it's not a great movie three stars, but certainly it shows you that revolution is not the source of all the prob of all the blessings that you can hear. Because there's always some pig that wants to be the big pig in the town.
