Well, good morning America. Good to have you with us. Bill Martinez here with Kenny Spivak join us. Kenan, good to have you back with us. How are you. I'm great, Thanks Bill, thanks for having me. Well, great to have you here. We last time we talked, we talked about, you know, the importance of free speech and being respectful. And now we want to take a look at your latest column on the democrats refusal to fund the Department of Homeland Security, which you say has exceeded in any hypothesis of good faith. Right.

1:03 Absolutely, there's no more reason for There was never a reason for what they did. But they used the pretext of being dissatisfied with Ice, and you know, whether they were or they weren't, most of what needed to be fixed from their view, not even from my view, has been fixed. And now we're in a war, and now we've had four terrorism incidents in the last two weeks exact, and we need the Department of Homeland Security, we need TSA so that we can have travel as we go into spring break. We just need America to be operating. Right exactly well. And the thing is is that when you look back at what the Left did, they exacerbated the problem. I mean, they just took advantage of what was going on here. Ice was called to do something that was really beyond their capacity and training in a sense.

2:01 I mean, you know, to go in and do crowd control. This is not what they're trained to do. They're trying to go capture the bad guys in a controlled situation, not in a general population. I mean, they just in my context, what I would say is that they didn't have a fair chance to be successful with their mission, and the Democrats were there doing everything they could to put a stick in their spokes and to make the situation worse. Well, yeah, but let's focus in on on your last point. Yes, it's not ICE's job to handle crowd control. It's the job of the local police exactly. It's also not the job of the local elected officials to incite people to go out and riot and to interfere with ICE operations.

2:47 So the Democrats one hundred percent created the circumstances in which ICE was less successful. They sent the people out onto the street, They ordered the police to stand back. They put ICE and even worse, because their training is entirely different border patrol in an untenable situation. Now, I want to. Say that I think the shooting of Alex Pretty was probably unjustified and law enforcement should have known better. But what happened with Renee Good, from everything I can see, was Renee Good's fault or the fault of the Democrats who egged her on into putting her car where it was right. The Democrats can't have it two ways. They can't create a circumstance then pounce one of their favorite words, yes, when ICE is partially defeated by the circumstance they create, and then refuse to fund homeland Security because they don't like that ICE wasn't able to perfectly handle the mess they created exactly well.

3:54 And as you say, the timing, it couldn't be at a word time. I mean, here we are, we're at war. Call it which you want with Iran. We know, and even the media, which does us no favors in terms of reporting the truth, has even said that we have sleeper sells abounding in our country. So the alert levels are heightened. And what do we do the people that manage alerts? We tell them to sit down without a pay chance. By the way, right, we're certainly not paying them. Look, I favor what we're doing in Iran, others may not.

4:35 We have a core problem among elected Democrats, and I do want to make a distinction between the average member of the Democrat Party or the average voter in elections and Democrat primaries, because the polls show that there is a mismatch between what elected Democrat officials are doing and what the average Democrat wants. The elected Democrat officials in this country control them has been seized by the far left energized base of the Democrat Party. These people are not patriotic, they don't believe in American ideals. They believe in a fundamental change to America. And again I emphasize this, that's not what all Democrats think, it's what the progressive wing believes. And right now they're controlling elected Democrats in Congress.

5:28 But it's up to those Democrats to come together the ones that are pro American, because I've set the divide is either you are pro American or anti American. I don't care too much about the party, the partisan politics. You know, it frustrates me. You know, at the end of the day, I want us to be on the same team USA, and I want to be alongside people who are pro American. They're thinking what's best for America, not this group, like you said, this radical part of the of the Democrat. And I'd say there's radical people even on the right that are not interested necessarily in pro American values. But those need to be vetted out, and they need to be vereted in such a way to where we have a true majority of pro Americans that are looking out for the best interest for people that still believe in the American dream.

6:22 Can right. Absolutely. So there's a poll that just came out Fox Poll from a couple of weeks ago, and it looked at how people perceive their patriotism towards the United States. If you go back twenty five years, it was about ninety percent. Not much difference between Republican Democrats and independents. You look at it today, in only thirty six percent of Democrats, self identified Democrats say that they have any level of patriotism. If you go and look behind those numbers, you see the real drop off is among younger people and liberal to very liberal Demas. And not all Democrats are very liberal. There are moderate Democrats. Among moderate Democrats, many remain patriotic.

7:08 And to your point, oh, somewhere around twenty percent of Republicans don't describe themselves as patriotic. Those are probably Republicans on the very far right. We have a problem on the very far right and the very far left. Right Now, the far left has more people than the far right, and the far left is more powerful than the far right, but both are not good for America. Well, and I see the far left their desire to do more damage and destruction, they seem that seems to be very acceptable on the very far left. On the far right, they may pitch a fit and everything, but they're not the ones necessarily that you know, would be doing the things that the left do in terms of destruction of property and things like that.

7:58 Yeah, I'm were together, No, no, no, we were together several months ago and we discussed one of my articles about the Fire survey. That's the Freedom Free Speech Organization survey of universities, and that survey showed on the university campuses that, first of all, across all students, there had been a decline in the belief in freedom of speech and the right to address controversial issues. But on the use of violence, among. Those who described themselves as liberal, a majority believed that the use of violence was occasionally at least justified, and a smaller percent thought that it was often justified. A totally unrelated study by you Gov of all Americans, it's not focused just on campuses, showed that about a quarter of all self identified liberals believe that violence is justified.

8:54 On the conservative side, it was three percent. So yes, we have a problem. It's not only among liberals who are the far left, but it is predominantly among the liberals and the far left. I think that's the bottom line again, you know, just in terms of the sentiment, and this is something that I've seen quite glaringly in the recent months, is you get this movement, this anti American movement, and it's shocking and I think it's hard for people to even when they're hearing elected officials that are card carrying Marxist. You know, Trevor Lauden's been on with us several times. He's done a deep down research and he's got the receipts on all this stuff, and it's tough for the audience to hear that fellow Americans really want to hurt America.

14:37 Right. There is a combination of two phenomena happening at the same time. Trump arrangement syndrome, which you know, I don't want to go so far as to say anti Trump is anti American because that's a little silly. But there's this. Strong visceral to me, not really entirely understandable, just absolute hate of Donald Trump and anything he does. I don't mean that, I don't understand that people might not agree with him on issues or might not like the way he comports himself. But this absolute hate I don't understand. And add to that intersectionality, this view that the white patriarchy, whatever that is, is out to get them a huge dose of anti semitism and rap this all together and it's a combination of people who hate America, people who hate Western culture, and people who hate Donald Trump. And you put them all together, and you have a lot of the trouble we are in of late. You have DHS, Department of Homeland Security defunded. You have Americans hoping that America will lose and it is a war, this war in Iran. You have Americans hoping that Palestinian terrorists will annihilate all Jews everywhere in the world.

16:06 We're in a bit of a mess. Well, and I think that at the core of all this, it's our moral compass has been compromised, you know. That is the basis of Western civilization is that, And this is what ignited this movement and really gave the birth of America was, you know, was religion and freedom of religion and to be able to do right for ourselves and for our fellow man. And that is being you know, threatened the media. I mean, you know this, this abject hatred for Donald Trump. In fact, I wrote a column about a year and a half ago. You know who told you to hate Donald Trump? And you look at the media reports. MRC continues to report that the media reports negatively on Donald Trump ninety four percent of the time.

17:00 That's not by accident. Oh, every headline in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post is anti Trump. If we have a stunning victory in Iran, the headline is US fails to achieve one hundred percent of objectives because we only achieved ninety nine percent. It's out of control. Let me tell you one startling number. There is a centrist Democrat organization called Third Wave, and they've been really hitting their head against the wall for the last few years, trying to convince the Democrat Party to move closer to the center and away from the far left. And they've commissioned polls by all sorts of different organizations. One came out last week and a majority of Democrats identify themselves as observant Christians.

17:51 And that startled even third Wave. It's not what they expected. To find. But it was the case. There is a difference between the Democrat base and elected Democrat officials. There is not anymore much of a difference between radical left Democrats and Democrat elected officials. So here's what I would say to the Democrats and the base. Take back control of your party. I still may not agree with all of the policies you'll want to follow, but we will be in complete agreement on values and on a desire to do what's right, and then we can try to figure out how do we compromise on getting there.

That's the Democratic Party of the sixties and seventies that's been lost because you know, you could have people going, you know, across the aisle, you know, politicians going across the aisle. Because at the end of the day, we were kind of looking at the same hill. We have the same mission, and what we were arguing over was the process. You know, that's healthy, But now it's like we don't even know what hell we're conquering here. Right, There's always going to be a difference on what percent of the budget do we want to allocate for social purposes, what percent we want to allocate for defense? How much surveillance should there be or not be, how much regulation should there be or not be, should workers get double overtime, single overtime. There'll always be differences of opinion on issues like that, right, but those are still within the same value structure, the same goal, and the same love for America. Let's get back to those discussions and not this deranged cultural Marxism, intersectionality, anti semitism which is pervading the Democrat Party from the left and unfortunately even some of the Republican Party from the far right.

19:58 Well, here we are on the verge of celebrating our two hundred and fiftieth year anniversary. This could be quite the demarcation where we either are able to come together and bring these disparate ideas, you know, to some kind of peaceful arrangement, so to speak, so that we can talk and be able to advance our culture, or we just get absolutely nuts and you know, we could end up in another revolution, which maybe may not be all that bad. I don't know. Well, I'd rather not be in another revolution, but.

20:40 Well we're kind of in one anyway right now. It's soft, the soft one. Yeah, No, I agree. I think if people on both sides of the aisle are particularly at the extremes. Listen to what you just said about working things through. Look, people like you and I are politically conservative, but we understand the value of compromise and collaboration and trying to be a single people with a common objective. When people don't share that view of politics, they're not helpful to the process or the nation. And look what we draw into the country. We draw more of the same and right now we're fractured. This is what is so dangerous about what Joe Biden did in an open border policy. We brought all these people, and I mean coming in as an immigrant. You know, these modern immigrants had to be totally confused because you know what is America, Kennon. I mean, we're just so we're just so confused ourselves.

21:48 Yes, and by the way, and that's the point. America is a culture of values, and you can be any color, any religion, no religion, and you can share those values. But it is okay for America to say we want immigrants to be coming to America because they share our values. Our values don't mean that they want time and a half, double time, triple time. It doesn't mean what percent of the budget they wants been for defense. But it does mean a fundamental belief in our constitution in the first ten amendments to our Constitution, in our Declaration of Independence, and people that don't share those values should live someplace elsewhere they'll be.

22:32 Happier, exactly. And the thing is, look at this country. I mean, we're a tapestry of immigrants and the cultures that they've brought into this country. It's fantastic. I mean, I love, you know, the expanse of cultural participation and what they've done to add to the beauty of America. And that's what that's my heart. I know that's your heart as well, and I want to continue to promote them not and there's no reason that we can't have that without you know, without the cost of the American dream. I agree. I don't have any elephant. I agree.

23:15 Well, I was going to give you thirty seconds to summarize and bring wrap it up here with your brilliant so anyway, I I you know, this has been a good discussion, and I appreciate you know, your participation in it, because you know this is you know, we've got we've got to put in the positive discussion of positive ideas into this negative environment to balance it out. Kennon right, No, you're you are completely right. And if polls are the least bit accurate, and I don't. Mean just this one particular poll from last. Week, most Americans share that view. Are elected officials not so much. But like you said, it's been hijacked by the left, by the media, and we have to take control of it and not let them steal our joy because they're trying to steal our joy from us. Because we've got lots to be joyful about in this great country that we're here, and we do want to share it with everybody who wants to come in and add to the proposition, not take away, but advance this great American idea. Hey, Jenny Bath good morning to you. Hey, Bill, it so great to be back with you. He always going to be talking, especially to say back. You know, the pressure is on Thune. He's you know, it seems that he's committed to do everythating he can to pass this legislation. And of course President Trump has put the line in the sand and saying, hey, look at don't buy to send any bills my way to sign if you can't pass to. Say that, right, that is exactly correct. President Trump is very supportive of this bill. He wants this bill to become law. And about a week and a half ago it didn't seem like Thune was completely on board. But now the Senate Majority Leader Thune is on board. The bill should be coming to the floor of the Senate today.

29:25 It's possible it may wind up happening tomorrow. And then when that happens, there are going to be a lot of procedural motions that happen, and it's not going to be exactly what we were hearing a talking filibuster was, but it's going to be very similar. It's going to be a robust beat, as Leader Thune says, and it will be brought to the floor and he'll do something called filling the amendment tree, which prevents the Democrats from adding other amendments and it protects the floor, and then we expect to. Be to really begin and earn a tomorrow on the bill and it. The debate is expected to last throughout the week, hopefully into next week as well, and then we see where it goes from there. If the Republicans really do this and we get it on the floor which only requires a simple majority, and they begin debating it, then our biggest task is activists, is making sure we are putting pressure on the Democrats and asking why they were refusing to ensure only citizens vote and American elections, and that we show id to prove we are who we say we are when we vote.

30:38 I mean, and this is I think that's really a challenge for everyday Americans outside of you know you and I spend a lot of time invested in understanding what's going on in our government. And I get it. A lot of Americans, you know, they just have a casual, very casual acquaintance at a time when you need to really be more focused, because an informed vote is critical to this democratic republic. The reason that we're in the chaos that we're in and things seem to be so confusing is because the electorate has taken a rather casual, you know, kind of a casual relationship with this democratic Republic. When the founder said we the people, it really was a commitment for we the people to design and uphold the kind of government that was being designed. As Benjamin Franklin said in response to a woman's request, Okay, well, what kind of government are you giving us? Is it a democratic republic? If you can keep it.

31:37 Right, that is exactly right, and so it is up to us to work to keep it. And you know, we talk about how we have consent of the governed in this country. You cannot have consent of. The governed if you don't have secure and fair elections. And this bill is going in and helping make elections more secure, but it's doing so in very targeted, specific manners. It's not a nationalization of the elections, of the election process. It is very specifically cleaning up the national voter registration actually require proof of citizenship to register to vote, cleaning up the Help America Vote Act to require proof or voter ID win you vote. And then we expect three more things to be added to the bill when Senator Thune does those procedural motions. It's going to have something that addresses mail and balloting, for mail in balloting to be for military and for people who are truly disabled or infirm and cannot make it to vote. And then also to address men and women's sports, so no men and women's sports and no transgender surgery on minors. So we can kind of think of the bill as morphing into the Save American Voters, Save American Sports, and Save American Children bill, and it's the Save America Act, which.

33:04 Will save all voter, sports and children. Now, the thing I started to say that's confusing for everybody is when you hear Democrats talk, whether it's Haakim Jeffries or Rocana and that sort of thing, I mean, their arguments seem very hollow. I mean they're not substantive. They're very emotional in bases and it's hard to follow them. So people need to discern the difference between that which is reasonable and logical versus something that's emotional. And the Democrats really that's been their kind of their their modus operandi is they triggered totally off of emotion instead of the practical. This is why it's so frustrating sometimes when you want to have a conversation with them, because they don't really give you an opportunity to really talk about the facts.

33:56 Do they No, they don't give you an opportunity to talk about the facts. And they are doing things like they're saying that this bill is racist, that it's Jim Crow two point zero, that it'll make it difficult or impossible for married women to vote, and that it makes it harder to register to vote than it is to get a gun. Let me address those very quickly in order. The bill is not racist. Over sixty I think we just did a pull on the bill and it came out last week. Sixty four or sixty five percent of Americans support passing the Save America Act, and it includes over sixty percent of African Americans. Over sixty percent of Hispanics, over sixty percent of people over sixty five, and over sixty percent of people under sixty five. This crosses socioeconomic political divides. People want this bill passed, so it's an absurd allegation. The other thing is that they'll say married women can't register to vote and won't be able to vote.

34:55 That's crazy. Women understand that if you change your name, you have to have your birth your birth ofificate, your marriage certificate, and if you get divorce, your divorce decree, and it shows the evolution of your name throughout your life. And that works just fine. But if for some reason you can't show that you don't have all of the paperwork for it, or you just don't even have your birth certificate for for some reason, then there are provisions in the bill to allow a person to attest to being a United States citizen, provide whatever evidence they can, and the worker who is accepting the information will then accept the attestation, and they're both signing under a penalty of perjury that this is correct.

35:36 And the other thing is they're saying that it's more difficult to it'll be more difficult to register to vote than to get a gun absurd, absolutely absurd. At this point, to get a gun in this country, you have to have a background check. Certainly, if you're getting a new gun, you have to have a full background check. That's not happening at all. You're just proving you are who you say you are. We do this all the time in our everyday life. And I think that's part of the reason why these emotional arguments from the Democrats right now are falling flat, because people in their gut instinct only want American citizens to vote, and they want to know their vote is secure and that they are the only person who can cast their own.

36:18 Ballot well exactly because otherwise then their vote is negated. And there has been plenty of research on this, Jenny Beth with other countries that had, you know, a free kind of a free for all in terms of elections, and there was obvious corruption and everything and to disenfranchised the people, and they just said, I'm not voting, my vote doesn't count, why should I even participate. But as soon as they brought law and order into the election process, guess what, voter participation increased dramatically. So what does that tell you. Well, it tells me that people will vote when they trust the election system. So let's make sure that we're improving that trust, and then people go vote. And this bill does not guarantee an outcome for the election, but what it does do is at the end of the election, of the end of election day, when we get those results, it will give us more.

We are not going to reverse the border crisis or prevent the next border crisis if we don't get serious about workplace enforcement and everify is at the center of it. You see, I don't think they understand, Jeremy. I think they're blinded, as you say, by a constituency that is blinding them and causing them to be blind. Now we can talk about the grift that goes on that is obvious, that that influences people and elected official because their their lifeblood is to get re elected, as they're told, you know, when they go in for orientation. You know, forget about what your constituents, what's your constituents back home say? You need to get re elected, and so you've got to go along to get along, You've got to you know, really blind yourself to some of these things that are so obvious because you know, you go there and you look at immigration. I mean, they all say, they all echo from different parts of the chorus. You know, immigration is broken. Okay, all right, so you got you got

47:36 a fairly good observation there. So how are you going to fix it? Exactly? This all goes back to the broken promise of the nineteen eighty six amnesty. That whole point of that whole amnesty was, Hey, look, we're just going to wipe the slate clean. We're going to let all the employers off the hook. We're going to let all the illegal workers off the hook. But we are from this point forward, we are not going to tolerate illegal hiring. They made it a crime. Before nineteen eighty six, it was it wasn't a crime. It was, but now it's it's been that's that's forty years and counting now. But they've never required employers to verify it. It's it's a don't ask, don't tell kind of situation. And listen, these these blue states, they are passing sanctuary laws to protect illegal aliens in the country, but these red states are going to get plenty of illegal immigration as well, because they are protecting the illegal hiring.

48:28 So it's a different form of sanctuary, but it is absolutely in the same ballpark as these more egregious sanctuary policies that we've been fighting in states like you know, Maryland and New Jersey and Virginia. In these red states Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Oklahoma, South Dakota, West Virginia, on and on. Even Florida failed to pass they were going to strengthen their Verify system. The Florida House passed the bill. The Florida Senate. Said, no, this is protecting illegal workers and the people who profit off of illegal labor. No, there's no way to sugarcoat that. That is what this is and the continued illegal immigration that we see the difficulty in actually reversing the Biden border crisis. This lies at the feet of both parties.

49:12 They're going about it in different ways, but they are failing the American people, and they are failing the test that voters put people into office at the state level and at the federal level in twenty twenty four because they were sick of the border crisis, they were sick of the overwhelmed communities. There are millions of people who are inadmissible to the United States, who are still in the United States. It actually spiked very briefly, in terms of audits, the Obama administration they probably did the best work site audit enforcement in the last thirty years. They only did it for a few months and then they kind of tailed off. Nobody's really nobody's really holding employers accountable. You know, we need fines, and this is what we're pushing for at Numbers USA is, you know, national laws. There are good bills that have been introduced in this Congress that would require employers to use everify. It would require the Social Security Administration to notify people when Social Security numbers are not matching their records or when they're being used in multiple places, i e. Somebody's identity has been stolen. Right now, the government knows. The government knows when an illegal alien has stolen somebody's identity and is using it to work illegally, but they don't notify anybody about it because they feel like their job is just to collect the revenues. That's got to stop, too. There are bills in Congress to change that. That's what we're pushing to get past in this Congress and in multiple congresses. And in the meantime, the states can do a lot too, and as we've been talking about.

Yes there's going to be a lot of rhetoric, you know about who really care about immigration enforcement and who doesn't look at the records. That's what we're doing here at Numbers USA. It's absolutely a scam. There's probably a million victims of this in America right now, and we're just simply looking the other way, all apparently all for the benefit and profit of cheap labor. It's just and I think it's it's deeper than that, it's cheap labor. But also, you know, one of the things we've been harping on here recently is that you have to think in terms of you know, forget about the party, the partisan politics. You know, it's us against them kind of deal, and it really still is us against them, but the US is are you pro American?

In order to protect this democratic republic, which Benjamin Franklin said, if you can keep it right, you've got to honor those things that support and reinforce the foundation of a democratic republic. And you have people out there that could care less for their own greed self present. Uh and uh, you know, Donald Trump is is breaking some traditions and making things happen. Right you know you and you said it so perfectly, Scott. Is that without the foundation, without the moral foundation that Christianity lays down, you don't have this great American idea. This is why John Adams said our constitution, our government was designed for a moral and religious people. You take that and the Constitution implodes on itself. And look what's happening in these areas, these goofy areas where we think we know better and we turn our back on God.

I mean, this is an upside down, kooky kind of world here. And you know, people need to see this, you know, it's like, hey, you're not wrong, You're not wrong in calling this out. You know, they're wrong for trying to do something that's unnatural at the expense. I guess what of the next generation's coming up, Scott, because they're the ones that are paying the price. Right, absolutely, absolutely no. So many of our problems can be lifted from us if we only had a spiritual revival in America of you know, gendered confusion, transgenderism it.

1:14:07 You know who's talking about it from the right perspective, which is that God created us man and woman. Boy and girl. Yeah, and you can't you can't redefine human nature because you want to. You are born biologically by God's principles in a certain way. And and when we had clarity on that, life was a lot better. Now we're having all kinds of turmoil because you know, we're no longer you know, living freely within God's boundaries. We've exceeded those boundaries, and chaos has ensued. Well, and it's not like we hadn't been warned. I mean, the number one selling book, Scott still is the Bible, and it's on many shelves across America. But I say, it shouldn't be on the shelf, it should be open on your lap. And you read these things and you see, God warned us, told us exactly, this is what you get when you're with God. Here's what you get when you're not with God. So now we're seeing quite clearly what it is, what life in America is or anywhere without you know, without God Almighty, and we're paying that price.

How many more divorces, how many more families broken up that the kids you know that our grandkids are devastated over Scott. How many more do we have to go through? How many more abortions do we have to go through before we realize that, look at, we have offended a holy God. And if you want the ship to get righted, and you want things, you want peace on earth, then look at, you better realign yourself with godly principles. Otherwise you know, good luck. And there's no doubt. I mean, we know from the Bible that eventually it'll all go to Hell in a handbasket before Jesus comes back again. All we know that. But meanwhile, okay, knowing that you better be prepared and at least for you and your house, decide who in the heck you're going to serve?

1:16:14 Right, absolutely, absolutely, well, of course you know, the way back to God is for us to acknowledge our failure, our sin and repentance is the foundation of any people that want to return to God. And I think that our role as Christians, as believers is really to repent for those who can't repent in America, and there certainly are a lot of people who have no moral compass and therefore they're not in a position to repent. But we who know can repent for the nation, and I think we're called to do that. They will see the difference in us to such a degree good, they'll say, hey, what do you got, What's what's the man in Scott Powell? Why are you at peace?

1:17:04 Well? Why are you so settled? And of course the Bible says, you know, be prepared at any time to give a reason for the hope that you have. Right, And so Christians have to speak out boldly and understanding that you know because right now we can still speak out boldly. You know, yeah, you get canceled, and you may you know, people may try to hurt your feelings. But you know, I choose not to subordinate my feelings to other interests. You know, I choose to have my feelings attached to God Almighty. Do I do that one hundred percent? And I'm not perfect, you know, I have less than moments. But you know, those less than moments remind me of the times when I am connected with God and it goes well and it makes sense and peace is there.

1:17:51 So I go, Okay, I know the difference, right. Yes, yes, well this is clearly harvest time. I mean, we can see it in the post Charlie Kirk World. Charlie. Charlie of course, was a wonderful young Christian leader and his you know, his murder has resulted in a bit of a spiritual revival among young people exactly, And so the people are searching more now than ever with all of the confusion, the moral confusion, we do have a great opportunity to you know, to witness and see spiritual revival because people are anxious, they're confused, and they need they need us to lead them back into God's.

1:18:34 Ways, and they need God's Church, and in God's Church needs to be aligned with what God is doing right now, Scott, You're exactly right. There is such a movement of God. And the thing is is that look what happened when Jesus wept, right, when he wept over Jerusalem? Why did he weep over Jerusalem? Scott? Do you remember? Well? Of course, you know. It was that Jerusalem was lost by and large, you know, the chosen people rejected Jesus. Christ right, and yeah, Jesus said, you know, to add to that, he said, because they missed their appointed time. That's right. So here we are, is this our appointed time for this generation that God's Church should come together. These churches that picked up on some of these goofy things that are unbiblical need to get their acts together and they need to align themselves with the truth of God, with what God said. Well, let's go back to the garden.

1:19:35 You know, you kind of refer to this indirectly. You know, we get into that situation and we want to hear the voice of Satan saying, did God really say? Well, of course he said, okay, but he throws up that little question of doubt. Did God really say? Did God really say that I created them man and woman? You know, And if you have to pause to answer that question, then you need to be in the word a little bit more because God was real clear and you've had any doubt, Just study the first eleven books of Genesis. Everything that we're dealing with right now, it's right there in the first eleven books of Genesis. Go back to the beginning, right.

Bill Martinez here with the doctor George Barna, the infamous, the one and only, to talk about his latest study that is finding the churchgoers are tipping towards socialism and away from scripture. Are you shocked and surprised? I'm not personally. I mean it's a continuation of a treat and I've been tracking for forty years. This is just the latest iteration of it. But yeah, I mean, nevertheless, I'm the reason I keep tracking it is that I'm hopeful that at some point Christian leaders will hear some of this and they'll say, oh, my gosh, that's not the way it's supposed to be. We better do something about it, right, great plan, let's do something about it.

1:26:10 Well it's almost like, you know, it's one thing for leaders, but the other thing is the people themselves to say, oh, you know what, I'm going to forget about the stove being hot. I'm going to go ahead and put my hand on a hot stove once again. I'm going to go and you and I've talked about this as well. I'm going to go ahead and defy gravity because I don't think God exists. Okay, And after you have enough carnage and people are tired of being stupid and injured, they finally say, oh, maybe we ought to rethink these theories, right, because you know, again we're reminded one of the wisest men we're told, Solomon himself, said there's nothing new under the sun. And so here we are. We're in this human disease factory that just keeps on repeating all this silliness, thinking that somehow there's going to be a pony under all that manure that's stocked up for us.

We did this in conjunction with Family Research Council because they're working with thousands of churches and millions of individual Christians who are conservative in terms of their political persuasion, and they want to see the country return to its biblical roots. Great, but then we do this kind of research with churched people, and that's what this study was, among people who consistently go to church Christian churches, and we find that, wow, their worldview is so far off the mark, even though they're attending conservative churches. They're conservative politically.

1:27:46 You know. We've got a third of them who say they prefer socialism to capitalism. You've got another quarter of them who say, well, gee, I don't know which one would be better, really, you know, And then you look at their worldview, you look at their views about success and purpose and salvation and truth and the Bible and so forth, and it's minorities of these people. These are our best and our brightest, so to speak. When we like the church world they don't get it. They don't have a biblical worldview. You know, only eleven percent have a biblical worldview. So yeah, I mean we've got to rethink the entire approach that we're taking in ministry because it's that whole definition of insanity. Keep doing the same thing over and over and think, oh, yeah, tomorrow they'll have a biblical worldview. Tomorrow they'll understand that socialism kills the culture. You know. No, I mean we've got to be much more direct and take a whole different approach.

1:28:44 Jesus gave us the approach. It's called discipleship, and you know, we're simply not practicing it. We think programs and big events are the way to. Go exactly well. And the thing is, I think it's interesting that we're talking about this topic, not only because what happened in New York, but also that here we are on the eve of Thanksgiving and we've got Thanksgiving Week coming upon us here, which I love. And look, look what happened with the Pilgrims. They experimented with socialism, and I think it was quite ironic because here the Pilgrims, you know, were enscunched. I mean, they had bathed themselves in scripture, in prayer and fasting, you know, seeking God for some twelve years fight let us have a place where we could worship you freely. Right, And so they come to America and they land up end up by accident.

1:29:39 It wasn't their main target in Massachusetts, and they experiment with socialism and after two years they go, this ain't working. And they learned the hard way that socialism. Fortunately they didn't have to do what what other socialists did and murdering a bunch of people. Because that's the other thing because even in the modern era, in the last one hundred years, socialism or any of the isms, communism and you know, the founders of communism said, look at socialism is just a nano's breath away from communism. So you just call it what it is. But responsible George for killing over one hundred million people. Oh so that sounds great, Let's do that, huh.

1:30:28 And you look at all of that and you recognize, okay, So where does socialism come from. What's what's its body of philosophy drawn from? Well, it's drawn basically from marx So it's essentially Marxism. And what are the key tenets of Marxism, all the things that our forefathers came here to get away from the idea that there's no God, that the Bible is not true, that there is no absolute moral truth. You know that it's the elites who know what's best for you, and so we should have no power. They should have it all because they'll make better decisions for us. You know, all of that proven to be false, and yet they still tinker with it when they get here. It's remarkable. Thankfully they didn't take as long as a lot of other people in America today seem to be taking to figure this out. But yeah, I mean, we've got to open our eyes and recognize there is a God. He is truth. He gave us truth in his word. He wants the best for you, and that's why he talks about how all of these things need to work, including his chosen people. In the survey, we looked at perceptions about, and beliefs about, and interest in Israel, and we're finding that church going Americans, born again Christians in America feel no responsibility whatsoever. Most of them, not all of them, but most of them would say they have no responsibility Israel. We are the new Israel.

1:31:58 We are the spiritual Church, which they are not. You know they gave that what but you know it's like what scriptures are you reading? So exactly really need a rejiggering of the whole puzzle here so that we put it together the way that God wants it put together. Well, until we reconnect with God himself. See, this is the deal beginning. Wisdom starts with God. You have no relationship with God, you just kind of render yourself stupid, right, I mean history has demonstrated that time and time again. All right, as sure as if you defy gravity, you're going to hit the ground. You know, it's the same thing. It's just built into the cake. God is the source of all wisdom. You think you know better than God, will then listen to him. Chuckle.

1:32:45 And keep in mind too that when we look at this, so many people in our churches have thought that because we're told we can have a relationship with God, that it becomes a good buddy relationship. Yeah, God's my good buddy. Stands No, he understands, but He's not just going to let you go anywhere and do anything and think anything, believe anything, which is what the church is becoming we're now moving toward that phase where it's all about emotions. Oh, I love God, I feel God, you know, but I also feel like having an affair with that woman because man, is she beautiful. But God made that beauty. He'll understand, you know, He'll cut me a break here. No, that's not the way it works. He gave us very specific guidelines by which to live, which is why the Bible alone, among all the books in history, has persisted accurately over the course of thousands of years, a couple thousand years.

Because God wants us to have it, He wants us to read it, he wants us to live by it, because that's what brings him honor and glory, and that's what enables us to have that relationship with him. It's not our feelings that g I'd like to have. God is my good buddy. Well that's not quite how it works. Well, let me ask you this, George. Do you know of a good buddy who is just and right? I mean, it's just real simple. I mean I don't know. I mean I've got some good buddies, I get some friends, and in the best of themselves, I don't want them executing justice. And I don't think they're always right, but God, consistently, to your point, is just and right. And by that definition, I'm not sure he would be in the buddy category just saying yeah.

1:34:33 And that's the beauty of him, Bill, is that he's also forgiving and loving, and so we've got the chance to be our knucklehead selves and yet still have that relationship with him. It can be intimate, but that doesn't mean that it's so intimate that we throw out his rules. It's a relationship where at all times he remains in charge, and that offends our American sensibility these here. You know, we like to think no, no, no, no no. It's important for us to be in control because only we know what's right for us. Absolutely wrong, right, you know. I mean, the only one who always knows what's right for us is God. He's spelled it out for us.

Well, the opportunity here again, it starts with you. Okay, before you can evangelize, you've got to be filled up with all the right things that come from God. Otherwise you're going to get your hat handed to you, and then you're going to get discouraged and you're going to say, well, maybe I shouldn't really believe in this. No, don't be that seed that falls on rocky ground. You want to be that fertilized soil that here's the word of God and produces you know, thirty sixty one hundredfold right.

1:41:45 Yeah, And you know, Bill, I mean personally, I've always been an activist. In college, I was an activist. I came out of college. I was involved in politics, running political campaigns, you know, serving writing policy papers, all kinds of stuff meant to change the culture. And for years I was so discouraged because I kept waiting for the revolution that I knew we needed. And as I grew up and matured and accepted Christ and got into the faith, I realized, yeah, it's ultimately a spiritual revolution, not a political revolution. But I was still so disappointed because the revolution wasn't happening. People weren't flocking to Christ and living his life. And finally, one day, you know, we got out Maxwell's silver hammer and he banged me on the head and said, ding ding, You know what, that revolution is one life at a time. Don't wait for the big silver bullet that somebody in Washington or Rome or wherever you know, Wheaton or Colorado Springs is going to fire and things are going to fall into line. It's one life at a time. Look at my son, I sent him to Earth. It was one life at a time.

1:42:52 He took thirteen yahoos and invested three years, three years in these uneducated by worldly standards, unworthy individuals, until they got it. And George, you need to do the same thing. And I'm telling you Bill that that was such a turning point for me to recognize. Okay, a revolution is one one person at a time. And so that's what each of us has to be thinking, is who's on my list of potential revolutionaries? And one in a time, I got to be discipling them. I got to show them, I got to live with them, I got to hold them accountable. I got to model it for them. We got to talk about these things. I've got to invest time in them. Why because that's how Jesus did it.

1:43:38 That's how it exactly, exactly and at the core of all this, George, like you said, you experience the freedom of God. I mean, how liberating you know, to get to that point going, Oh, I get it. You don't want me to carry the whole world, right, you know, just you know, like they tell you when you get on the airplane, you know, these masks come down, put the mask on yourself first before you go in, you know, up the aisles and trying to help somebody else, tripping over everybody else's mask. Take care of yourself first, and then you can be of some sort of value here, you know. I like what you know talking about representing the gospel, Georgia. I like what Saint Francis of ASSISI had to say, says, always preach the gospel and occasionally use words, right.

1:44:21 Yeah, yeah, I love that. You'd have to. I know, it's great. When I went there to a CECI in Italy, it was just such a blowaway to read so many of the things that he said. You know, because I was familiar with him, I was attracted. That's why we went to the place. But when you get there and you feel that environment that he was in where he spent a lot of time outside, you know, in the garden with the birds, right God to speak to him. Yeah, yeah, you know what, that's what's missing for me personally. I'm so busy trying to do stuff for God that I forget. Yeah, God doesn't really need me to do stuff. Just listen to what he has to say and see where he wants to send me, because I know he's got a better plan than I've got.

But unless you really let go and allow that to happen, you'll never experience it. Because meanwhile, I mean, what Jesus did for us is in a sense, you know, we're part of this new covenant. You know, our own our own bodies are the tabernacle of Christ. I mean when you think about it, I mean we're carrying Christ in us if we allow, if we allow God to you know, to be there in us, and and we get out of God's way right.

1:45:50 Yeah, and and and part of that is taken the time to know what we're about. You got to read, you gotta I'm sorry, let me go back. One of my concerns is that in America we've got this thing about read the scriptures, and maybe because it's our work at a university, but I think maybe we need to twist that understanding a little bit and say, ah, don't just read it. You can read your newspaper, study the scriptures, you know, spend time reflecting on it. This isn't just something to check off the to do list. It's like, dive into it and connect the points. That's one of the things that I discovered when we did all of our worldview and we continue to do a lot of worldview research. But one of the reasons why people in our churches don't have a biblical worldview is that when we go to church, we hear some good biblical sermons sometimes and we sit there and we take notes. Okay, I got the main points, but what we're not doing, we found is connecting the dots, helping people to see how all these things fit together. So when I look at all the research we do, like this current study and this whole issue about Israel. It's really troubling me.

1:47:02 That's so many of our fellow church goers, maybe fellow Christians, are not understanding how important God's chosen people are to his heart. And so in the survey, what we found is only six regular church goers said yeah, I think it's it's important for us to consistently pray for Israel, right percent. Less than that less than half said well, I think it's important for me to talk to other people about Israel, about who they are, about their history, about what they're going through, about their importance in the big scriptural picture. Why don't we do that? Because we don't know the big scriptural picture, and so we've got to get back to studying the scriptures. Where does Israel come up? Why does it matter to God? Why did he choose them? What's the difference? You know? Do we know, say Genesis twelve, you know where God talks about all blessed those who bless Israel. I want it on that you know exactly what do you do to bless Israel? Okay, you got to pray for him, you got to talk about them. You know. We found that only a third of regular churchgoers said yeah, I think it's important to invest my resources, my time, my money, other things that I have into supporting Israel. Most Christians not willing to do that. What are they willing to put their money into?

1:48:26 New clothing, new cars, new houses, new vacations. All of these kinds of things rate higher on the scale than supporting God's chosen people. So it comes back to this issue of priorities. Do we really know God's word, do we prioritize his values or do we prioritize our values. So it's one of these things where when you start to study the scriptures, hopefully you begin to see the world a little bit differently in your priorities shift. Well, no doubt you will. And I can tell you that was my discovery, George, is that as I began to really make a commitment to the word of God, and what really grabbed a hold of me was Jesus himself saying, Hey, look at I don't live by bread of man. I live by every word that comes from the mouth of God. And I'm going this is Jesus saying this. And then as I continue on that journey and the Spirit is leading me and opening up my mind and awareness of what's going on. It was like, kind of what you're saying here right now, and that is that you have to be committed to studying, to you know, chewing meditating on the word of God. And we do that because it blesses us in so many ways.

1:49:41 But it also what it does it serves as a guard rail to tell us when things come up that are inconsistent, that do not validate scripture, that are in conflict with scripture. The more you're aware of what scripture says, that stuff is glaring screaming at you, right. I mean, like some of the things we're touching on right now, Like so socialism, it's like, well, that is like a screaming siren. But if you're very casual about scripture, oh yeah, that kind of feels okay. And related to that, you know, I've been sitting here looking at all of this data and saying, so, why don't people read the scriptures? And you know, part of it is that they don't think it's true, they don't think it's reliable, they don't think it's relevant, they don't understand that it's meant by God to be our guide for making moral choices. It's all in there if we'll simply take the time to read it and study it and embrace it. And so I look at this this research report that I put together, and you know it talks about how people are confused about abortion. Why because we have a majority who say the Bible is neither clear nor decisive in what it teaches about abortion. They a majority say it's not clear and decisive what it says about homosexuality, A majority of telling us it's not clear and decisive. That's the phrase that we looked at in terms of teaching us about transgenderism. It's not clear and decisive when it looks at issues like ethan asia WHOA.

1:51:13 It's only clear, unclear, and indecisive if you don't read it and if you don't trust it. So you know, when you say to God, God, I'm going to take a chance, I'm going to step out here on the plank. I'm going to go to the edge of the plank, and I'm going to say, God, I'm trusting you. Now. Now fill my mind with your truth. Give him that shot. Because I don't know about your journey, but that that's literally what I did. When I was a gradual. I was trying to figure out, is this Jesus guy for real? And so I told the pastor who was telling oh, yeah, is going to trust him. It's like, okay, I'm giving him a month. You think he can pull that off? And the pastor, you know, swallowed hard, but you know, so, yeah, okay.

1:51:55 And so within a couple of weeks after saying to God, God, you just take me. Take me. If you're there, if you're real, if this stuff that's in this book that this church just gave me, if this is real stuff, make it come alive in my mind, my heart, and my life. And within two weeks my wife and I were like, we were giddy. It's like, oh my gosh, I can't believe this. Is all real. Why didn't we know this earlier. We're in our mid twenties. Look how much time we wasted, you know exactly. But that's what America is doing. We're wasting our time pursuing stuff that's meaningless when we've got life being handed to us by the one who created it. Amen.
