We're often set on the show in the absence of fact opinion rules, and boy did they take off right away with the report of this passing. It was quite shocking. Was almost like we were revisiting all the conspiracies of one Justice antonin Scalia. Because the reports on the passing of Senator Graham this past weekend after returning from an official state visit to Ukraine were first described as a brief sudden illness before the DC Medical Examiner released preliminary findings on Sunday.

0:59 The EMMY reported that Graham suffered an a ortic dissection, which is a terror in the body's main artery due to our TiO sclerotic cardiovascular disease, heartening of the arteries theme said the death certificate will remain pending until toxological and microscopic testing are finalized. Appreciate you having me on the show. Well, I said you're retired, you're still active. You're still active.

Where has he been going to work? You know, you're going to work great? Well, so much for rumors and getting it everything, getting the fact straight. So let's break down, you know, because the Internet has been a buzz with all these conspiracies. Now, did the Russians do it? Did I run you know, breakthrough you know and murder Lindsey Graham? So, if your spy fans are some of the most recent on Apple TV, slow horses, right, that was a fantastic series, you know. So the Russians have a lot of tricks, they do not have a trick to mimic and the a oric dissection, so we can definitely put that one to rest. I took care last Saturday of an aoric dissection and a fifty one year old gentleman.

2:30 It's it's always a very devastating injury. There's two types. There's one that goes off the A sending you order, he goes up right from the beginning of the heart A sending and then going down. So the type A ones which Senator Graham had, is always very very dangerous. This individual did as well. That was bleeding into the par of cardio sac surrounding the heart. So that's it's very very fatal. This gentleman did survive. I got into a helicopter into Duke University and at seventy one years old, it's a much much different thing. The survivability on these roughly twenty five to maybe fifty percent, you know, mortality rates, you know, without surgical treatment, it's almost universally fatal. And he had some type of we don't know what the symptoms were, you know, haven't corroborated that with his staff, but the staff was he told them, I didn't feel quite well and yeah, thing felt tired.

3:23 Yeah, yeah, you should go to the hospital. He's like, no, no, I got to prep for this interview in the morning and obviously did not make it. So it's a very sudden event as well, it's a devastating cardiovascular event. Well, you had this gentleman fifty one years old. How were you able to save him? Was this something that obviously he responded and sought medical help a lot faster than the senator did. But you came in within within an hour of the symptoms, and you initially worry about heart disease itself, like a coronary artery disease or a heart attack. And this pain was much much different. The pain with a dissection can vary, but generally it's a sharp, it's a tearing pain and it shoots into the back. And this gentleman had some porty controlled blood pressure on top of a low cocaine and.

4:12 Just just makes you really high risk. And he survived long enough to get to us and medical attention where we got the imaging and could give him some medications. And these drips to lower that blood pressure so it doesn't further tear, and was able to get him to a cardiothoracic surgeon in time. So it's a very dangerous disease. What about the air travel? How much could this have compounded the senator's issue. I mean, he was in the air for a long time and cabin pressure I got to imagine has some effect on this as well. No, you know, there's lots of so I'm a flight surgeon in the Air Force, do airspace medicine, and there's a lot of disease processes that kind of work differently at altitude. That cardiovaster disease not really one of them.

4:55 So basically the stress of travel though especial over a long term. When they say stress kills it one hundred percent does so lifetime of stress, you know, years and decades, all his public service and you know, and then that travel at that age is very hard on the body. But that's why you have increased risks of stroke, of heart attack, and then blood pressure management and there's all kinds of things that fall down the line when you have blood pressure issues with that stress. So kidney disease, blind diabetes, you know, the art dissection is kind of lower on that list, is relatively rare, but when it happens, it's very devastating. Right exactly. So you know, despite all this latest update and misinformation and conspiracy claims, you know, how should the public react to it. I mean, you've kind of given us some warning signals, symptoms and things that we should be sensitive about, and how you know we can mitigate some of this risk.

5:54 Yeah, chest pain is always bad, So there's lots of causes of chest pain. I do not expect anyone out there to be an emergency doctor. If you have some chest pain, get into the emergency department. I'm happy to see you. We can walk through that your risk factor, some CT scans, X rays, whatever it takes, and you have to rule those emergency things out, you know, between heart attacks and blood clots, dissection collapse along. I mean, there's all kinds of devastating causes for chest pain. Maybe you just had pneumonia, maybe you've got a little pleurisy, some inflammation in your lung for some reason. Well, you're not a doctor, okay, I don't especially to know the difference. Come see me. I'm happy to check you out.

6:34 Exactly. My main doctor tells me all the time that I'm going to get in trouble because I keep, you know, practicing medicine without a license. He says that have kiddingly, but I probably you know, because some of us we want to self diagnose and think, you know, hey, we've got this handle, which in this case it seemed like Lindsey Graham had that same you know, failed reasoning and look what it did. Yeah, and you know a lot of people they avoid the emergency department apartment. It's chaos. I mean, I know, I've been doing it for twenty five years and it's it's just it's chaotic all the time. You're just managing crazy things. And wait times could be anytime from a couple of minutes to two, three, four, five, six hours. I mean, nobody wants to wait in an ear physical hours. But when you have chest pain, when you walk into that emergency department, you see that triach nurse, you say, listen, I have chest pain. I'm worried about something dangerous, generally gets their attention and you generally moved to the to the line unless it's something really simple.

7:31 You know that you've had a fever and a cough, and it's a you know, pneumonia or something. But let the trioceronurs do that. I mean, don't don't take this on yourself. Go to the hospital. We're happy to see you. Well, Karl, let's talk about you know, Senator Graham's life of service. I mean, here he is. You know, he was in the Air Force, right, Yeah. So I think he was. He's served more than a decade, I believe, on active duty and then served in the Air National Garden Reserve. So heretired in twenty fifteen as as a fullbird colonel. He was a JAG officer, a military attorney, and you know, I had so many years of service. And then you know, in the US Senate and you know, I know the President had the flags lowered to half staff. I just a lifetime of service, very impressive.

8:19 Yeah, And you know the thing is is that, I mean it was amazing to me. I guess in politics today, everybody's a controversial figure, and you know, some on the left just could not help but celebrate the passing of a fellow citizen, which is amazing to me. You see that continually, and that's just not the way I was raised. I guess maybe I hold myself to a higher standard than that. I value life at all levels. As an emergency doctor, combat veteran, I've carried body bags off the battlefield and helicopters, and you know, I just I don't celebrate anyone's death. And I guess some people in this country I feel that's appropriate.

That's that's who goes out to save them. And I can't do things like that. I don't jump out of helicopters shoot been a lot of the face. Just doesn't make sense, does it. Yeah, I mean why do you jump on the help copter? But there's people, there's people that are wired to do so God bless them.

14:56 Right, and so we're not all made to do those things. But we can be weight behind the spear. That's what makes those individuals so powerful and gives them the confidence to do what they do. It's the people behind them that weight behind that tip of the spear. So a coach, a teacher, a volunteer, So everyone has a gift. Everyone has something to give, So be part of something or someone that matters and get into your community, whether it's teaching, coaching, volunteering in your churches or schools, or going to the animal shelter. Right those animals can be emotional support animals for somebody. So everybody has a set of skills. In your community needs. You right well. And we certainly have seen with you know, Senator Graham, what a life of service can mean. And you know, a very affable individual in many ways. I mean he you know, he crossed the partisan divide you know so often to try to bring people together and having that heart of service and being part of the solution and not adding to the problem. We've got enough problems to deal with here in this country. You know, we need we need solvent, we need solution.

16:01 Makers, right absolutely. And that's the important, the most important part of that book is you know, the government's not going to save you. It has to be you. You get out in your community, the person that you see in the mirror, that's who's going to save us. That's who's going to save the next generation, build our next generation of leaders. So your community and America need you. I mean, And that's clearly colonel, that's clearly stated in our constitution. Our constitution isn't a manifesto for big government. It was a manifesto for we the people. You know that we were you know, given specific, inalienable rights, invailable rights that came from God, not from government. But it's interesting that the human inclination is to move away from self responsibility and to look to others, and when we do that, we end up enslaving ourselves in compromising freedom.

16:56 Because that whole document is about the highest achievement that we can have, you know, this side of heaven, and that is to be able to realize freedom in some capacity, right at some level. Well, John F. Kennedy said that best. Gosh, we're almost sixty sixty some years ago now. Not what your country can do for you, it's what you can do for your country. And more people need to take that to heart and just take ownership. That's what I loved about Special Operations was the ownership component. Everything is your problem all the time. No one passes the buck. Nobody's a victim. You know, the left in this country is just victim, victim, poor me, poor me.

17:37 No take charge, take ownership of your life and your community and get out there and make a difference. And those things are critical. Well, you know, the good people, the good citizens of America need to take a stand against this pervasive idea, as you say, this victimhood, this idea of the oppressor versus the oppressed. I mean, that is a narrative that has killed empires, you know, in the history of man. And all it takes is for good people to sit back. And I loved, you know, the experience that the Cup brought to our country. We had Europeans coming in mass enjoying things that we've taken for granted, and they're they're reminding us of what an exceptional country we are. I mean, they have people overseas that are dying of heat because they can't figure out air conditioning. Are you kidding me?

18:27 And you know, and we've kind of teased about it here on the air, Colonel that you know, they're freaking out and going, hey, what's that in my drink? And we go what we call that ice? You know, ice is born to them. But what I love the takeaway is, and my impression is that it's almost like Detokoville revisited you know when Detokville came here to America in the eighteen hundreds, you know, they said, hey, check these knuckleheads out. You know, what is it, what's so special about them? What makes them, you know, stand out? And he goes out and searches the highways, byways and his tank away. After everything is all said and done, he just said, these are good people, right.

And the World Cup, there's so many great stories from the the Japanese student that had barbecue in Texas for the first time without that video was fantastic to Earling Holland, like this massive World Cup star on the Norwegian team, plays for Manchester City and the English Premier League, and just going to when he was in Dallas going to a like boots, boots and hats, you know, just cowboy boots and just hilarious and he ended up carrying like one of the last photos is him getting off the plane in Norway with a big stuffed. Raccoon with a bottle of bourbon. It was like the bourbon. Raccoon and the whiskey raccoon, I think is what they called it. Just they fall in love with America. America is a special place and it's a wonderful place. And you know, I take a lot of pride wearing the uniform, you know, when I had that flag on my sleeve, and a lot of people sacrifice themselves for that, so I don't forget that.

20:01 Well, you know, one of my favorite sayings colonel we may have talked about this last time, and I love the idea, you know, like, especially i'm traveling, I'm you know, I've got my Hawaiian shirt on because I'm in Maui, Hawaii in Lahaina, you know, dealing with my daughter and grandkids live here, and it's been interesting and you know, I I even forgot, I forgot I had my you know, Marine Corps veteran had on, and people come to me and say thank you for your service. And I appreciate that. I mean, and it's just it's natural people. You know, you're in the airports and they're greeting that way. And one of my favorite responses came from a colonel when we did a Laying of the reef ceremony last Memorial weekend, and he said, what I tell people is that I did it for you, and I've stolen that. I said, I'm going to steal that from you. And I love that, you know that, because that's we did do it. We did do it for them, We did it for our kids, we did it for them, we did it for America.

20:59 And that's why we serve. And you know, and it's to me, it's unfortunate only one percent of our country actually serves. We need to get that number up, you know, dramatically. Not because we're being mean spirited or we want to be a killed joy here, but you got to have skin in the game. You got to understand what this country stands for, and you know what our flag stands for. The ethos of being an American citizen. Yeah, I think you just understand things in Your perspective is so much different. I've always been I'm a big fan of term limits. I'm a big fan of our elected leaders having to have served in the military. I think that perspective really matters, that that dedication and that service, that you were literally willing to lay your life on the line at some point, and I think those things are big.

21:46 Well, to wrap things up here, got about a minute and a half left speaking of term limits, I mean, we have a situation with you know, with with Senator McConnell, McConnell. Yeah, yeah, that was you know, everyone saw him live on air about a year year or two ago. You know, just just freeze on stage, like total total meltdown. And you know, I think March and twenty twenty three had a pretty big head injury and concussion, and he had a lot of falls just because of the some of the medical issues, the post polio muscle issues from previous But you know, I think there probably is a little bit more to that. They announced that, you know, he didn't have a stroke, he didn't have a head bleed, it wasn't a heart attack, but he did admit to passing out, and so I was a little bit concerned, but they didn't really mention why he passed out for a brief moment of time, right, So you know, I think term limits would help solve a lot of that, and then really it comes down to the voters.

22:45 But yeah, well it's kind of tough because we had a situation with the former president that was clearly had issues. I mean even so much so that you had a special prosecutor saying, hey, you know he's too feeble, we can't even. Yeah, he's not mentally fit to like sit for a trial. Yeah, but he's mentally stave the country lord with the with the nuclear codes no less. Yeah, I mean there's just something, something rather precarious, and I agree with you. I think something needs to be done. Well, Colonel, you know again, thank you so much for your time. I mean, just before we get into talking about Israel, we've got the President's speech last night that you know, some of the networks decided not to participate in. You know, Donald Trump continues to trigger them and disturb their sensibilities. You know, they just they don't want the truth, the whole truth and nothing. But I guess so continues, that's right. Yeah, So anyway, but I did want to address this vote that taken place in the House where Democrats in large numbers, I mean, they're full blown out of the closet. I mean, they're about as anti Israel as you can get. They want nothing to do with Israel. And you know, so here it is, well.

28:46 There was I think roughly one hundred Congressmen who voted against continuing aid to Israel. Now it's not in the newspapers, but this is the equivalent of treason because Israel's attacting America. Israel's the equivalent of pretend five aircraft carriers, and we have eleven aircraft carriers, but not all of them are working at the same time. Many of them are in maintenance and whatnot. So let's say we have seven effective aircraft carriers in Israel's five. So Israel's almost equal. Little Israel is almost equal to the outstanding aircraft carriers that we have around the world. So if someone says, oh, let's not send any money to those aircraft carriers and no gasoline or whatever the nuclear power, but pretend they were diesel powered, We're not sending anything because we don't need the five aircraft carriers. Yes, we do need the five aircraft carriers. And so it's the equivalent of treason to vote against a strong relationship with Israel.

29:54 Yeah, and what's their idea? Okay, well the ideal? So what do we do without Israel? I mean, think about that for just a moment. Well, the Charlie shows how disease the country is. One hundred out of four hundred and thirty five congressmen in round numbers is twenty five percent. So twenty five percent of congressmen are not loyal to America. They might be loyal to Iran and Qatar and Russia and China. But they're not loyal to America. That's why I call it treason. What's going on here? So basically they're working for the other team, but they still get a vote. You know, it's not like they wear a T shirt. You know, I'm working for the other team. Can I still vote?

30:40 One of the problems we have is we do not require a national security clearance for our congressmen and senators. So you can be literally a foreign agent like Mamdani in New York and run for mayor and no one checks your national security clearance to find out that you're an Iranian agent. So in round numbers, one hundred of our congressmen, twenty five percent are either foreign agents or getting money from foreign countries and who are buying their vote against Israel. How much are you saying, Well, I believe it was roughly one hundred congressman vote. Now that yes, right, yeah, So that's one in round numbers, it's twenty five percent of Congress of the House. That's pretty sad situation.

31:28 Well, that's on the issue of Israel, but how many other issues that have not come up to the point that would expose their alliance and or allegiance to foreign entities. I mean, foreign money has been coming into this country and has bought and sold political officials for decades here. You know, Trevor Lauden has been reporting on this for decades, and you know all this stuff that you know that's coming to the front in terms of democratic socialism. You know, again Trevor's been reporting on this, So it's no big surprise to our audience. But yet, in a little bit, I guess maybe a little bit of surprise is that it's just you know, they're all out of the closet now, Okay, So it's like we more than suspected this was occurring.

And this issue that keeps coming up and that you just said that, you know, we have officials who have a vote, who are in elected office, who have insight and information that is top secret, they have access to it, and they're bought and sold by foreign agents. Yes, it's pathetic. Now, by the way, Democratic Socialists of America or DSA is basically a Chinese communist foreign agent operation. All of their platform is viciously anti America. And why do we allow them to run, they should be declared illegal, a subversive organization. The mass from Brotherhood it gets money from Qatar, Turkey, pakistanis should be declared a terror organization.

We need the equivalent of someone like that to come back and root out what I call the reds, the greens, and the blues, the reds of the communists, the greens of the Islamnus blues of the globalists. These people have no business in our in our government. But we don't have a mechanism to do that just yet.

So that's that's right. He was over the target. Too bad, he just didn't hang around over the target a little longer. And that he didn't have the support and network of other like minded individuals that could see this. And uh, you know again you get that aged old organizational issue that you go along to get along, and meanwhile the country is going right down the toilet.

And then the persons how can being good be a personality disorder, I said, because you don't understand evil. You're so good. You have such nice, wonderful thoughts in you. You read the Constitution, Bill of Rights and all these wonderful documents, and you think everybody else is like you. And so that's one of the problems we have. The forces of good do not understand the forces of evil. Meanwhile, the forces of evil understand the forces of good very well.

Then you bring them into the country, you know, communists, then you bring them into the country. I mean, what are we thinking here? And I think it goes back to what you're talking about, is that overall and you know, in Tokaville to Tokville, when he came here, to the country to observe what was going on. He just said, you know, in a general consensus, the people in America are good people. Well, you know, because we're good people. You know, we can't be so open minded that our brains fall out, right.

The bad guys slander the good guys with lives. We the good people, have to slander the evil people with the truth.

You know, people citizens there of Iran have been mowed down, some others, you know, we've talked to other people, our good friends, you know, boots on the ground there in Israel has said, build the numbers over eighty thousand, and and I'll go with his number, because you know, they've always been pretty straight and upfront about it. But regardless, you know, whether you're talking fifty eight, that's a lot of people that had been mowed down there in Iran. That is rank evil and how do you reconcile that and think, Okay, do you think what happens in Iran is going to stay in Iran?

So there's ninety three million people in the country, and let's just say thirteen million are part of the government or their businesses, and let's say eighty million are normal. You know, you're not going to set up a library, you know, a presidential library and host a gala dinner for it. We have to blow up all the targets we can find, and we have to arm the half of the population that are minorities who would love to get rid of these criminals running around. So we still have a lot of work to do. I'd say we're in the third inning or fourth inning, but we have to be steady. And I don't have to tell you that we have an election coming up November third, So I'm not looking for a big, big war between now and November third. But right now, we just have to keep the straight hor moves open. But after the election, we're going to we

So this is a form of warfare. And the bad guys are very clever to fight us with cultural warfare because they're not as good as we are in fighting conventional kinetic.

We don't understand evil people because we why why would why would someone want to be evil? Why don't you just do good things? That's just one of our problems.

Now they're focused on Jews because Jews are low hate fruit. Only two percent of American populations Jewish, ninety percent Christians. So the point I'm getting to is, if we could criminalize anti Semitism and criminalize incitement to genocide. We could start locking up the Reds, the Greens, and the Blues, not for the crimes that they committed, which we just discussed, but for inciting to genocide.

It's the book of having a story of hope for the outcast, the broken, and those who lost faith. What Charlie Kirk was doing was incredible because he was actually exposing people to the gospel, allowing people to wrestle with the conflict and standing firm in the faith. Now, there were definitely people who opposed his style, and I totally understand that, and it would be great if we could have more actual conversations and not necessarily debates where I'm right and you're wrong. But let me hear why you feel this way, let me present to you why I feel this way, and let's come to a place where you can even if you can't get to a place of faith, let's get you to a place of respect where you can respect the fact that I am trying to do what

And so we have to we have to completely reject that idea, and we have to, you know, come to a place where we can respect people of all different classes and treat their ideas and their opinions with honor and dignity while we still stand for our own.

We've been calling it, you know, I've been saying, you know, we need a modern day I think we're hearing from the modern day Paul Revere is going, Socialism is coming, is coming. But I said, don't freak out. And to your point here is that you know, I think that some of these young people have a correct observation but a wrong conclusion. I agree. And the reason they have the wrong conclusion is because it's not put through the filter of truth, as you said, Because any idea, when you bring it against the truth and let it see, can it hold water in the face of truth?

You see the chemtrails with you know, they're actually people don't realize what's one of the main chemicals that they're putting up there.

And we have to look at you know, of course, we're all about free will. Don't tell me, what I you know, you know, yeah, I get that you're not the boss of me exactly exactly, but we But I think that number one, there's been no education about what these chemicals do, and so people don't know what they're in putting in their body. That's a problem with our institutions because that is actually the responsibility of the EPA. And when you look at the EPA and you look at these and the FDA, it's our institutions, our government bureaucracies that are heavily They all have corporate interests. They usually come from the corporate world. It's the little back gate they go back and forth between them, and so they are they are exerting the will of the corporation over the American people.

We have to stop using their products. Whenever we are making purchases, we are exerting our power. And the only way to take the power back is to stop buying their products and to stop using them. And you know the city is coming together. I mean, it's moving in a positive direction, slowly, but surely. You know, rebuilding is very, very difficult, and of course the hearts of the people are still heavy because of you know, the devastation. You know, one hundred people passed, a lot of those children, Jeff, and you go through one of the one of the passes, there's pictures of these kids as a memorial that they've set up there, and you just want to stop and you know, and just you know, pray that they would rest in peace, that their families as much as possible, you know, can you know get through this? And I don't know how you do it, you know, you do it without God.

1:24:36 I mean a friend sent me this this morning that really touched me, and I thought, gosh, this is a great reminder of what it's all about. It said, I don't know it all, I don't have it all, I can't do it all, but I trust God through it all. And to me, that's what I see, you know, the people of Lehina. Yet God, just like with the is relates when He had to discipline them through their experiences of the exile, right and the Iyians and Babylonians attacking and wiping them out, they came back to God in humility, and then they came together, and think of Nehemiah in his humility, he brought them together and they rebuilt. And the rebuilding of a marriage, the rebuilding of a father son father daughter relationship, the rebuilding of a neighborhood, the rebuilding of a whole town, as long as it's done on humility and dependence on God and togetherness, anything is possible.

And then I'm thinking about the metaphor in our own lives Bill, the people listening whose marriage broke up or is on the rocks, or they've got a kid who's you know, estranged from them, or something else that needs to be rebuilt. May God do it and bring them closer to Him. Right, you know, to hear you talk about, you know, and how communities can do this together, taking it about communities and family units are in a sense their community under themselves small as yeah, And you know you remember, you know, I remember reading how in the old days where you would have these barn raisings that would take place that a neighbor, you know, they would lose a barn or something like that, and the people would come together and help restore and make that family whole, and they weren't doing it in a kind of basis and you know, and there wasn't it wasn't reliant on government to come in and do it for them. They just they saw the need and they and they rose to the need for their neighbor. And you know, and I think where we are right now is that we have been conditioned to look outside of as you say, to

The government gives us an agency to look to the government to be, you know, the sole sustainer of our livelihood, and time and again we've seen how that fails. I mean, there's some good aspects of government, but there's some bad aspects. And I think where we are right now as a country is we need to be discerning enough to see what parts are good, what parts are not so good, and how do we extricate ourselves from those things that have really have limited and are limiting our freedoms?

1:28:57 Well, prosperity which does come through a democratic republic and free elections and capitalism and free enterprise and of course the blessings of God. But prosperity leads people to be able to take care of things themselves. Then they build infrastructures and government, and then they can build government programs right assistance programs, et cetera, be it social security, welfare, good stamps, poverty relief programs, to college tuition guarantees, et cetera, et cetera. Prosperity lets you depend on yourself and then depend upon government and its programs, and that takes you away from depending on God, from offering yourself to your neighbor and depending on your neighborhood, okay, your church. And so charity shrinks from a private thing when it was big and and consistent, to a public thing that isn't personal.

And the challenge is there are so many people hurting in poverty and mental illness and other illnesses that a lot of help is needed. Now we're in a situation where the divide is such that it's apples and oranges. You know, we're we're not trying to capture the same mountain like we did before. In my own opinion, yeah, it's not all for one and one for all. It's like we're on different teams.

1:32:15 Steve large Enough said this to you, I think before when he went to Congress, he was my teammate with the Seahawks, and he understood sports, and there's offense and defense, and there's blockers, and there's passers, and there's receivers. He said, because I want to work with my teammate. Yeah, st your boss is my teammate. We're we may be in different parties, but we're American congressman trying to make the United States of America succeed as a team. So how did he feel after going and making the round? Hey, Bill, great to be back, and you're right the summer is you know, It starts off great, kids are excited to be out of school, but then it hits it's like I'm bored and it's in parents look at that as like, Okay, I got a problem to solve here, right, I don't want my kid to be sitting on the couch being bored. But what do I do? And so, yeah, thanks for having me on today.

1:40:14 Well, and the challenge is with today's parents is that there's so much to distract them, particularly when it comes to social media. So then that is absorbing their brain and almost setting them up you know, we might say a little bit toward failure on the coming school year because they're going to be their brains are so geared and turned to much because of the social media content that they've been absorbing. Right, unless there's been some super discipline and household probably. Right, No, you nailed it. It's technology. People have asked, well, are kids more prone to being bored today than they were, you know, when we were kids growing up in the you know, seventies, eighties, nineties, And the answer is yes. Technology trains a child's brain to be entertained all the time that they need constant stems. So when you take that away, and like you said, a lot of parents do because they don't want their kids sitting in front of a screen the entire summer. They take that away, and the kid's brain screams out, I'm bored. I'm not getting that dopamine hit right that social media and video games and technology provides. So as a parent, you got to guide them away from the screens and give them some alternatives, right, give them independent play times where they can read, or create with legos, or go outside with a friend, do some things, some old school ideas that again calm the brain down, because again, you don't want your kid going into the school year, you know, like you said, with their brains being mushed because they haven't been engaging with independent, practical play over the summer.

1:41:45 You know, Jesse, when I was a kid at this time, of course, parents often start the sentence out this way. During my time, you know, we're fortunate because we played baseball, Yeah, and baseball with a summer sport, and it carried us through who you know, pretty much through the month of July and u and if you were lucky enough and you played on the All Stars, then you got a little bit more time. But h but for the most part. You know, through the end of July you're playing baseball, so then you know, have you had about a month or so when it was boredom. But it seems that in today's you know, calendar of summer events. I mean, if parents aren't centering the kids to some sort of summer camp or you know, being diligent about keeping them active, I mean they're on the couch.

1:42:32 Yeah, and that's and that's really the key is to as a parent, engage with your kid. When your kid comes to you and says I'm bored, which is inevitably going to happen, engage in conversation. Right, Jesus did a wonderful job of this. Always when he was teaching is he asked great questions. So as a parent we can ask those same questions, like, so, why are you bored? What do you mean you're bored? Do you have any ideas, you know, what would you like to do? Because again, kids desire relationship, so maybe they want to go have you know, some playtime with a friend. Maybe they want to join a club. My granddaughter joined a softball team this summer. Their last game is tonight. It's been amazing to create more friendship groups.

So being involved in the summer with sports teams or clubs or hobbies, starting something new, gearing up for that school year, right if you're going to be if your child's going to be in band, get them some lessons going right now, you know, engaging their brains in different ways and getting them off the social media, off the technology, reading a book, those summer reading lists that schools provides, or a library write. A lot of libraries have those summer reading lists. Engaging their brains in different ways is so important over the summer, so again they don't have that summer slide when they go back to school, that their brains are engaged and ready to learn again. You know, Jessin, I got to tell you, I'm a little surprised in some cases because, you know, for a couple of years after COVID, we realized how far back the kids had fallen as a result of not being in a classroom, and some of these kids, you know, really needed a tutorial, and I'm surprised they're not taking advantage of it that there's not more summer programs. I have felt all along that there could be some sort of like a summer boot camp to where these kids could go in. And my idea was, I believe that in thirteen weeks you could relay the educational foundation of you know, first grade to eighth grade, relay everything reading, writing, arithmetic, you know, kind of like what we do with our computers.

1:44:34 Right when the computers start bogging down, we give it a fresh dose of software and make it fresh and almost new again. Because what happens when you do that, you pick up those bad spots that have been infected, those viruses. You get them out of there. I think this is the same opportunity for you know, our kids to really get back up to speed, so that when they start this coming school year, you know, they're hitting the ground running and maybe even challenging the teachers to keep what a novel idea, right, I love. That again, it's retraining, reteaching your child to re engage in society with other people, because, like you said, COVID did create so much i'd say, isolation in families and with kids. So getting them to re engage and so something we do at Clubhouse and Clubhouse Junior Magazine here focus on the families. Kids Magazine's been out for forty years.

1:45:26 We've been publishing it for forty years. We do a summer challenge, and this summer we really encourage families to reach out into their community to to help your kids think of others. So had we had the kids create do little cards for their neighbors, right if they knew a neighbor was sick or or something like that, or lost a pet, you know, write an encouragement card and take it over to your neighbors, or do some secret, secret agent helpful deeds. Right, Like you go do some nice good deed for a neighbor, and you see how long it takes the neighbor to figure out that it's your family doing it right. Right. But creating community again is so important because again God created us for a community, right, we are a communal being where we need those interactions and a lot of like what you talked about, the isolation creates a lot of anxiety for kids. And you see the anxiety level so high for children these days. And really all you need to do, like you said, is have them re engage with people and the anxiety goes down.

1:46:26 Well, I like your idea too. Acts of service are always you know, just an awesome result getting you know, commitment. I mean, Jesus brought a towel. You know, I always say we should bring a towel, and we could teach our kids to bring a towel and be examples of those acts of service. I mean, you know, you may it may only be an hour, but it's amazing what that would do in terms of you know, engaging the kids. They say, wow, that was pretty easy. What else? What else can I come up with and stimulate their brains and creativity? Right, because you'd be surprised what they'd come up with. Well, that's the thing. When you give kids an opportunity to be creative, their brains are ready to do that. And often as parents, we don't allow that because again, if if we allow them to be on social media, sitting on the couch in front of screens or whatever it is. So yeah, just getting your kid into the kitchen and doing some cooking together and maybe making some cookies and taking those to a neighbor. I mean, it's kids. I mean, they'd have this this natural you know, ability to think outside the box, come up with creative ideas and you know, we have really good relationships with our neighbors because we have grandkids and they're always outside and they're always interacting, and it's just so great to have that neighborhood feel because those kids are engaged.

1:47:42 I got to tell you, you know, I mentioned you I'm here in Lehina, Hawaii, where you know, the pains and the heartbreak of the fire. Yeah, three years ago is still evident. In fact, you know, last night we attended an event it's called you know, it was a welcome home, you know, a welcoming back of people who have left Lehina, you know, and it was to encourage them to come back and see the progress of how things were coming along. And they're moving you know, they're moving along. But the thing that I will say about about Hawaii and the culture, the natural inclination is everybody's an anti and uncle here. Yes, yeah, it is so cool.

1:48:24 I love this. And we have two grandkids here and they have probably one hundred and fifty two aunties and uncles that watch over them. Uh huh, as I said, Leelo and such Ohanna is family, right. I mean, my wife danced praise hula for twenty years with a group here in Colorado, and so I know that that spirit of Ohanna, that spirit of family, and yeah, if we can create that all over the country and our own little neighborhoods, it just again gives you that sense of community, which is so key for kids to again break out of the summer boredom because they can go help an antie and uncle with a little project, or an antie uncle might come, hey, can you come help me do this? And it gets them off the couch and engaged in community and in neighborhood. And that's so important well.

1:49:10 And especially here because you've got such natural resources right oh, you're there's the ocean. You know, you go fishing, you'll go go boarding, you know, do whatever. You know, there's all kinds of things you know that you can do. So and like I said, with the different you know, families that are so engaged. I mean you go to an event and I mean it's it's really it's encouraging. And I'm really pleased that my grandchildren are exposed to that kind of interaction, as you say, and we haven't heard them yet say that they're bored. So but we're you know, we're here for a couple of weeks and getting ready to leave. So maybe they're they're just fullness and they're on their best behavior.
