Good to have you back with us. Well step for five, Bill, thanks for having me back. I appreciate it. Well, important to get your perspective right now. As I mentioned earlier, it's precision thought. Precision planning is getting us precision results there in Iran, right well, it is.

0:42 And that's what the American public should expect out of our military. We train hard, we fight hard, and we have an administration that's backing us up, using every bit of American power to take this fight to the enemy. And I am very confident that every soldier, airman, marine that's fighting this war is in sailor are feeling that they have the full backing of this administration and it's allowing them to conduct the work that they've trained to do, and it's it's working in our favor thus far. Colonel. You know, you make a good point here, you know, the difference between the military previously, what we endured you know, for four plus years, really brought the military down. And it took a new president to you know, really focus on the true ethos of what the military is all about.

1:33 And and that's on full display, whether it was in summer, you know, with the first bombing of Iran or what we're seeing right now, Like you said, I mean, this is I mean, it makes you proud to be an American, proud to be in the military. For me as a former marine, you know, to see the way the military has been allowed to do what they do best well, you. Know, absolutely, and think of this same mission in Mission Midnight Hammer, if we were doing that not based on capability, but based on your gender, your ideology, or whether or not you were a DEI type player. Every American mom and dad should demand and every spouse should demand that only the best are commanding their sons and daughters or their family members. Only the best meritocracy, period. That's why we have to have it. There's no room for it in our military. There's no room for it anywhere. In my opinion, Only the best rise to the top and bring this fight to the enemy exactly.

2:33 So what I said, if I'm hearing you correctly, I think that's a fair assessment of where we are with today's military. With even the change, you know, from a Department of Defense to Department of War, all this has in effect psychologically in terms of preparedness and what you think about when you're in the field of battle. Right, Well, it doesn't you know, if I want my enemies to be afraid of me, I want them to fear me. I want them to fear America. That's been on great display over the last year. Don't mess with America, and we would rather be your friends. As you know, General mattis a great a great mentor of mine. Once said, no better friend, no worse enemy. That's how everybody should see America. We are your best friend in the world.

3:23 But we will but if we have to fight you, we will and we will bring everything to us to it. Well. Well, look what happened the way this was negotiated, Colonel, I mean, Donald Trump offered all kinds of opportunity, uh to the Iyatola, to Iran, but they, you know, he said, no, they're really not interested. In fact, I mean, what a way to negotiate. Can you imagine opening up negotiations here? It is the number one concern of America. Wash you having a nuclear weapon and the first thing you say is, hey, we've got we've got enough materially here to uh to build eleven nuclear bombs. I mean, okay, well that's left to negotiate, right.

4:04 Yeah, yeah, you know you can't make this up, right, it's a shocking admission. Did you know? It's crazy to me that they said that and did that. That left no choice, Yes. Right, that left no choice. And Donald Trump is shown to be a great negotiator in every aspect of America. Obviously, he's been doing it for decades in the business world. I believe any adversary will believe him this time when he says he's going to do something right or wrong. Love him or hate him. If he says he's going to do something, you can count on it. And unfortunately I Ran decided they would rather build a nuclear weapon and become a pariah to the world than to live in peace. And that's cost many of that regime already their lives. And hopefully we'll have a new regime in there that will become a great friend to the war to the United States and to the Middle East.

5:03 What I'm hearing from the ground there, colonel, in terms of the resistance, there's a lot of people there. I mean, they've said three things, you know. Number one, we don't want another monarch. Number two, God forbid, we have some sort of religious zalot, you know, come back in another iotola, forget that noise. They want to be a democratic republic, so to speak. They want to be a democratic entity that focuses on peace, prosperity for their people and is non nuclear. Boy, is that a breath of fresh air if that can be realized? Right? It really is. And people should note that the US is not targeting economic targets. Yes, we could do that now at any time we want. We could cripple that country for the next fifty years. We're purposely not doing that. Yeah, And you know President Trump has mentioned this to the Iranian people.

5:53 I don't know if they have received this message. But you are not our enemy. It's just this terrible regime, I think. So we have to maintain that talking point, and we have to back that talking up, that talking point up with action. We cannot go after economic targets unless the current regime push pushes us to that. Ideally, they'll get rid of that regime themselves in Iran and do just what you said, build a country based on the values of the people, and then they can become a great friend of the US. Colonel you in your experience, you know, thirty plus years in the military and when you're in this type of situation where I think that again the political forces which are driving me nuts here because they're so antagonistic, they really can't see anything positive about what's happening here, and they're getting in the way. You know, they don't have anything positive to say. We've got our men and women in harm's way for the sake of liberty for Iran.

6:55 Iran has already suffered, you know, thousands of deaths some have estimated as high as sixty thousand people in the last few months alone at the hands of the IRGC and local law enforcement there. And you know, and irresponsibly, you've got these politicians that are getting in the way of, you know, something that needs to be done and that is encouraging the local people. As Donald Trump has said, Hey, this is your opportunity. We're opening the door for you. So go and claim your liberty right. Well, it is, and there's a couple of points there. The first point is, you know, I believe and I you know, I hazard to say this. I believe some of the Democrat leaders in this country are not morons.

7:40 There's got to be some that aren't. And they know this is a good idea. They just refuse to give Donald Trump a talking point victory. If you go back and look at tapes, you'll see that they wanted to do this before as well, when they had a democratic president. That's a travesty of injustice. They need to back the president back, the country back, and women in uniform. Period. They can then go and do their congressional circles and figure out how they want the next step to look. But right now, when people's life it's sake, they need to focus on President's War number two. If I Ran had not given up all their weapons, and I don't know at what point they did this, probably around nineteen seventy nine.

8:22 Yeah, nineteen to seventy nine exactly. That's a reason for the second right. They are not armed, They are not in armed society like we are. If they were, this battle may be already over and they would have taken out their own regime by themselves. That's not a mistake. That is, you know, this is the perfect example of why the Second Amendment must you know, never be infringed upon, and we must maintain that forever. And then the third point is we have to be careful not to try to put on our own mindset a Western style democratic situation. I RAN. It has to be what i RAN believes in, what I RAN select for. Themselves exactly exactly. Yeah, that will allow them to create this new culture. They've got the seeds of it. So now, you know, we'll see how that develops. You're exactly right.

He is a decorated Middle East combat veteran, and we're grateful for your time Kernel that you can help us understand and give us some insight here in terms of, you know, what's happening there in the area of responsibility that right now is being you know, obviously being shared between the United States and our firepower and Israel, right and also you've got some air nations coming into play because the Iranians are firing bombs at their neighbors. It is and I don't want to lose this point, Cutter shot down to Iranian jets that were coming to bomb our base. Yes, so what has happened is Iran showing that they're not rational, showing that they're a paria to the world attack their neighbors. I could have believe it if there was something they could have done other than surrender, that perfectly would support everything that we've been saying.

Your enemies don't normally cooperate with you that well, but by them doing that, it showed the partner nations that we strive to be at peace with that the United States is right in. Iran has to go and instead of fighting just US and Israel. Now everybody will want this regime to go. I believe everybody in the region will want them to go. And once they once they're gone, that will allow for the piece of the Middle East. You know, it's always a questionable statement, but for at least a temporary piece I believe in the Middle East. Well, the Arab nations, in their heart of hearts, they knew are run with a nuclear arsenal was unacceptable. You know, they may not have set it out loud, but you know this is why we had four Abraham Accords that were already constituted. We had a fifth already there, ready to go. But for what happened in the Gaza, you know, Saudi Arabia would already been part of they'd have been number five. But I think that on the other side of this watch out, I mean, the Abraham Accords is gonna explode. We're gonna have more Arab nations coming in because they realized regardless of sentiment, I mean, they've been able to effectively work with Israel. Israel, you know, is a peaceful nation, you know, just like America. You know, if you want to be with us and help us, and we can help you, and we can do this in a partnership sort of arrangement. 16:19 You're in the club. But if you want to come in and cause terror, then guess what we're going to come after you? Well, that's right. And that's why I always say, you know, is full time, forever peace possible in the Middle East. I don't think that it is. You're always going to have a individual that will strap a bomb to his body or her body and go blow up. You know, us personnel friendly to the US. They'll blow up someone in Saudi Arabia because they talk to the US. So I don't think we'll ever get out of that completely. But what we can do is stop lobbing missiles and bombs at each other. And if we can get to that point, even though you know, peace may not be one hundred percent possible, the reduction and loss of life would be an outstanding thing, you know, in the end.

17:06 And maybe this is naive of me. I think most people would just like to raise their children and not have them have to dive into a bomb shelter on both sides exactly. No, I don't think that's na Yeah, I don't think that's naive. I think that that's basic to humanity. You know, we all want to be able to have some sort of peace, unless you're so ideologically fixed and you've been raised with you know, hatred toward another groove of people's group. But look at all the I mean, this has been going on for thousands of years, and I agree with you that I don't know that it would be one hundred percent because you're still going to have the houthis around. They're just kind of keeping their powder dry right now.

17:46 And saving munitions later on to your point, Hezballah, you know, kind of the same way they've just entered in. They're throwing a couple of missiles into Israel right now, just to say, hey, we're here and we want some attention. And they may get more attention than they want, you know, because Israel's not going to put up with that very long. And then of course you got Hamas still that still controls about forty five percent of the Gaza, right. Well, that's right. And you know one thing that you talk about hate during OIF one in two thousand and three, I was a Ford air controller with a Lima company three seven and what we were doing is we rode all the way into Baghdad and in Karbala. But when I was in Baghdad, we got a tip that there was a bunch of weapons that had been put into a school. So we went with a handful of range who went to the school. I had a translator with me, and there was a mural on the wall in the school and this is a this was a five you know, an elementary girls school, right and it said you cannot go to heaven until Palestine is free. And you know, This was two thousand and three, and so they're teaching in Iraq, Iraqi, young women, young girls, they're teaching them that.

18:58 And so if we can stop teaching the hate, then maybe people will stop the hate. And you know that was two thousand and three. You know is changed much. I doubt it. I'm sure there's still a lot of hate being taught. But ultimately, if the individuals didn't know their background, they could probably get along, if that makes sense. Well, you're exactly right. I mean they've been indoctrinated. And of course that indoctrination didn't stay in the Middle East. We see it on our college campuses here in the United States. Well, that's right, and that needs to become a focus. We do have to focus on the enemy within. Yes, And if you are protest in America, which is fine, right first Amendment. I want you to be able to protest peacefully. But if you are teaching American children to fight and kill Americans, and you are teaching foreigners that come here that their role is to fight and kill Americans, then we need to get rid of them.

19:54 Well, colonel, here we are. We're not even two weeks into the campaign yet amazing what our military has been able to affect. I mean, you talk about shock and awe all around. I think even Americans frankly or probably in shock and awe of how well this campaign has been executed. What do you see happening in the coming weeks, because this is not going to be over in a couple of days. I mean, this is going to continue for several weeks ahead, don't you think? I do? I do. I'm one hundred percent confident unless something dramatic happens, like a full capitulation of the current Iran regime and whoever left alive leaves. If that does not happen, there's no reason we should stop until every objective is met. Right the President has lined out maybe three or four weeks to get our objectives. Let up until one hundred percent of the objectives are met. And the other thing that takes place in an event like this, there are things that we may not even know for sure about that we're going to find out. Maybe you know, maybe it becomes mission creep, but we may have to go after other things. And we've got to stop the drone threat and the ballistic missile threat. Once we're able to do that, there should be no reason why Iran does not capitulate. However, remember what happened in Iraq. We won in a few weeks, a few months, very similar story.

21:19 And then what did we do. I was running the civil military Operations Center for our battalion in Karbala, working with an interim government, and we were given in order to fire that government, and we did that. We fired the military, we fired all the governments that were interim, and that caused the longest war in US history. If we do that again, then it's going to happen again. I'm confident we've learned from that. We have to go and work with an interim government. Whether we like them or not, we have to work with them. And remember, the end state is not the American in state for the government of Iran, it's the Iranian people. And as we can accept that, then it'll be okay.

22:01 Well, I would think that with this current administration we're probably more in that position to do that. I mean, it's clear when you look at the fruit of what we see on display with this administration, you know, with Pete Hexth and you know, General Kin and others, there just seems to be a real clear, uh you know, sense of mission and understanding as opposed to previously going in. And of course the President's been pretty emphatic too that it's not about regime change. That's not the focus. You know, we're going to give the people there the opportunity. We've given them the benefit of the military, US military assets to give them space to where they can come and realize the freedom, the dream, the realization of this dream of freedom that they've had. And so it's up to them, you know, to to work this out. I agree with you one hundred percent on that, Colonel, and you know, hopefully they come in. But the other thing too is to consider is that and you know this, when you're dealing with the death cult, you've got to take him out all the way. You cannot. You cannot allow them to reconstitute.

23:08 Right, that's one hundred percent right, And you know, I almost feel bad, I almost feel like one percent bad for them when they bring together and they get blown up and killed, and then they do the same thing the next day and bring all another group of leaders and they get blown up and get killed. I just wish they would decide to choose life and walk away, because you're right, they cannot remain at this point, they cannot remain in power. And you know, President Trump offered the military immunity if they lay down their weapons and surrender, and I do believe he means it, but they have to mean it. Yes, if they don't do that, unfortunately, you know, we can build some more bombs and we can continue flying these sorties. We have control over the sea and the right now. The land is a different story.

24:02 Hopefully if we put in ground troops, which concerns me greatly, hopefully that's well thought out and planned out. But we have a Kurdish team apparently. I don't know how big it is right now, but it's in the thousands going to help on the ground. We've got the air and sea taken care of. 28:32 Hey, we're back with it, Bill Martinez here with the Kentucky State University professor, the one and only doctor Wilford Riley, as well as right now, Hey, well, how are we doing? Do it pretty well? Doing pretty well? Living life? Yeah? Just watching history unfold right before our eyes. I mean, something as dramatic as this. I mean, wow, this is probably one of the most consequential things of my lifetime to watch what Donald Trump is doing there in the Middle East. I mean, you know, for years, I mean, growing up and watching these beauty pageants and you have these girls, these beautiful girls come up and what do you want to Well, I'm gonna, you know, if I become queen, I'll you know, support peace in the Middle East. Right was the constant refrain, But here we are knocking on Heaven's door.

29:17 Maybe yeah, I mean I think that one of the things that makes you a good or notable leader is not that you pursue the same policies as everyone else that people have decided are sort of conventionally moral, but that you're willing not to and that's that's one of the things that Trump has been willing to do along kind of the same lines as Ronald Reagan Andrew Jackson, other people who took a lot of darts for being challengers of the mainstream norm. I mean, so Trump was a big force behind the Abraham Accords, obviously, along with the Israeli leadership and the more stable Arab states. So you you got to see that moment where the you know, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai is lit up in the colors of the Israeli flag, which legitimately made something amazing.

30:01 I know, that's crazy. Yeah, that was astonishing where the helicopters were flying into kind of the center of stable Arab power without being shot down immediately by warplanes. You know, this is pretty similar. The Persians for a long time have been under the control of an extremely Islamist regime. The percentage of Iranians that are Eastrians are Christians is extremely high. So I think we think. Of Iran as kind of the enemy, you know, marg Ball or America all that. That's something that happened in nineteen seventy nine as a result of tensions against the Shah, and that military government has just been able to stay in power since. And I mean I think that Trump and the Israeli saw an opportunity. You had the giant street protests against the regime, where in forty thousand, sixty thousand protesters, about ten thousand soldiers that already been killed, and when Iran and Israel started slapping back and forth, the USA got involved. And right now we've killed about the top fifty people in the unning A government.

31:01 So there's a vacuum there. And I think if it hadn't been for that willingness to kind of take big moves, we wouldn't have seized that opportunity. The question is not what we do. I mean, what I would probably do is win the war along with Israel, you know, appoint some friendly guy on the Persian side, the king Polavi is in exile in the West, successful businessman, and then go home. What happened in Iraq is the last comment was that we ended up staying there trying to build kind of this stable Arab democracy and it didn't not work. I mean, I have friends of mine were there the entire time. It's a more peaceful country now, but that never entirely happened, and so for twenty years we're fighting the insurgency, the remnants of the Bath Party. I mean, right now in Iran we have a chance the top of the leadership and leave, which I think we're going to do.

31:49 Yeah, I would hope so, because there seems to be enough organic movement. I mean to the point, like you say, forty to fifty sixty thousand of Iranians have have died for the sake of freedom, you know, I keep saying over and over again. It's like they're experiencing their Patrick Henry moment of you know, give me liberty or give me death. I mean, they've had it with this to such a degree that you know, they've they've paid the ultimate price for freedom. And I and I pray and hope, you know, for you know, for what they suffered that it was not for you know, it isn't for naught. That it is it really is the is the basis, it's the foundation for a free republic, which many of the people there that I've I've talked with, will they foresee a democratic republic that is without nuclear ambition, and that one they want to be agents of peace and participate in the greater global good that Donald Trump is is leading the way for.

32:55 I mean, so, Persia was one of the world's great civilized countries pretty much all of time. Yeah, and I mean this, The Shah of Iran was a near equal trading partner of the United States. Like this, This is a specific thing that happened very recently. And I mean this is like the idea of the Iron curtain drawing over rush after World War Two. We never really came up with a term for the Islamic equivalent. I think we probably should the cold veil or the steel veil or something. But we saw that in a number of countries as well. I mean Afghanistan, Iran. You could argue Iraq with Husaim. I mean these were fairly developed Libya maybe, but certainly Jordan or not Jordan, Lebanon.

33:42 But these were stable. Many of them were majority Christian countries or like I said, something like Zerostrian countries. There were a series of Islamist revolutions that started in kind of the rural highlands of a lot of these places that occurred in a particular period of time. They were often funded with Russian money, and that had really significant impacts. Like in Iran, what you. Had was the socialists, the student movement uniting with the Islamists to topple. The current government. And the idea was, then we'll work out sort of a coalitional government and we'll be a democracy with these parties, a Muslim party, a socialist party, a free thinking capitalist party. And obviously what happened is that both the Communists and the Muslims then tried to kill all the members of the other parties, and the Communists and Muslims finally fell out, tried to kill each other, and the Muslims build out the Communists.

And of course Emmy K comes with some historical baggage that people are concerned about, but you know, the vision that they're putting for it, They've got a ten point plan. She was just elected as the President in exile for the National Council of Resistance of Iran. So you know, we'll see, we'll see how this plays out. But you know, I hope that you know, you say that America serves to give them space to where they can support them making the kind of decision that will work for them. They

One practical solution is that you could end up with what you have in a lot of European countries, which is a wildly diverse parliament where you have you know, Greens that live in trees and dress like forestyle, and then you have you know, the actual fascist party, and then you have you know, the Christian Democrats who actually win every election.

There were probably fifty thousand or more people killed in sectarian violence. So I mean you'd have to you'd have to say that overall the situation has improved.

Looking for the Virginia Governor Abigail Spamberger is an oh yeah example of this soul to everyone as a security mom moderate, and the second she's in office, Democrats are now aggressively pushing a nine to one congressional redistricting map to just try to wipe out Republicans in the state. And while they try to find every tax hike they can under the sun, immediately a hardcore left turn to progress with them that we see in California that's destroyed the state, and it's the media who lets them campaign as moderates and get away with this and trip.

We've seen how over the last few decades, you know, all the movement with right to work as people flee in play places like Michigan, you know, Detroit.

You know, we need babies, and he's saying, hey, you know, have babies, and we'll give you a thousand dollars and they can have their own savings account and or use it for investment and that sort of thing, so that when they become eighteen, they've got a little bit of a you know, a little bit of a bank roll there to either help them through school, or help them in business, or help them to go to some trade school whatever. 1:10:36 Yeah, and so one of the most popular parts of the Republican tax cuts, we're seeing that it's going to be taking effect this summer is the creation of new Trump accounts, and what essentially this is a new savings account for children. Anyone under eighteen in the country can apply and create a new Trump account. I believe over three millions. It's under under eighteen, not just newborn babies. Anyone under eighteen can create a new account. Anyone born between twenty twenty five and twenty twenty eight is eligible for one thousand dollars in seed funding from the Treasury Department. Anyone toddler's essentially will be eligible to go have one thousand dollars starting in their account. They'll get so they'll get a little bit of bump. But the thing also that I'm seeing is that businesses, you know, you talk about employee retention, they're offering to participate in these Trump accounts too. So whether you're a newborn, or maybe you just have children under eighteen that a business wants to say, Hey, look at we're gonna we're going a little bit to the Christmas bonus here is to put into the kids accounts right exactly.

1:11:36 So, employers, what I love about this is this is a new employer provided benefit for employees that we're now allowing because of the tax cut bill, where your employer can now give up to twenty five hundred dollars into your account for your child, and that allows you, know, to invest over time, you have more direct control over how the investments are going. And I love the idea of this because we're going to have a whole new generation where we're gonna have heightht schooler soon comparing their savings accounts for their kids that have a better understanding of how the market works than most incoming congressman will. Democrats, of course, they don't like the fact that this new popular thing just happens to be called a Trump account. So what we're now seeing out of the state of California is that their Franchise Tax Board has come out and announced, actually, we're not going to agree with federal law, and for state tax purposes, we're going to treat this as taxable income. So if it's in California, now, if your employer makes a contribution to your child's Trump account, they're going to treat that as taxable income to you, the employee, even though you are not the ultimate beneficiary of this. I think this is just petty small behavior from California, the fact that the governor doesn't like that it's called a Trump account, and they're going to do everything they can to essentially come down and crack down on the families taking advantage.

The government can take a cut of it deliberately not treating it opposite of the way federal tax law will be. California will come in and read your child's savings account. I think it's just insane. Gavin Newsom was asked about if he would support a law to override the Franchise Tax Board, which reports to him, and he refused to say whether or not.

You know, we're not bankrupt any longer. We've done all these good things. But we've got this new program that we have to do, and this is what we're going to invest in. No, it's just the same old stupid progressive policies and dark holes that they throw money into at the expense of these little kids.

Very exciting time, as you said accurately, halfway point halftime and tax refund season. So let's talk about some taxes. Yeah, exactly, especially this season. Things are looking up and I'm hearing already, Mark, people are getting more money than they did last year, and this is a good thing. So we want to make sure you get that money quick, right. Yeah, And it's not unexpected. You heard a lot of this with the political debate over the summer, with the legislation, you know, bigger refunds, giveaway, what have You don't care about any of that. All I'm saying is it's your tax refund money. They are in fact up through this third or fourth week on IRS dot gov data line last week, and so that's a good thing.

1:25:01 We're certainly seeing that at our. Company between the tips and the overtime and a lot of those other new deductions. It's a good time to go get your taxes done if you've not done it already. Mark, I love this how some people frame it, you know, a giveaway you know, they're giving away our money. They're giving away our money back to us, and that's a giveaway. People ask me all the time, is that a good deduction? I said, there's no bad tax deduction if you're in the tax deduction business. So it's all good tax money. Yes. Well, as you say, Mark, you know we've got multiple tax law changes in effect this year. So this is why you need to get there sooner, because what happens like anything. You know, we've had enough experience for those of us who've gone to college and waited the last minute to put in our turn papers. We see afterwards all these mistakes that we made because we waited for the last minute. So again, all right, learn from what we've done before. And this is why you need to not wait for the last minute. Going there right now, because you know these new tax laws, it has afforded a new dynam and positive pathway for it. You'd have more money in your pocket this year.

Bill, being in the business for forty years, I've never seen a good scenario where waiting till the last day or minute or week on your largest single financial transaction, your tax return, has ever paid dividends or been beneficial. You're not waiting on more information. You should have it all. You're not waiting on the prepareres to be better trained. They were trained at the start. You're not waiting on lesser lines. Those are only going to build from now to the end. There's no good reason you can tell me for why you would wait past Actually you know a couple of weeks ago to get your taxes done. One hundred million Americans get refunds every year. Last year that was about three hundred billion with a B. This year estimates are four hundred billion dollars in tax refunds.

You'd call that person and say, give me my money. No difference with your taxes other than it can be a little intimidating, it can be a little stressful. But for that amount of money, you know, deal with the stress, deal with intimidation. Be an adult, do a best practice. Go get your tax money. It's your money. Well, Mark Seber, you're exactly right. I mean, it is about intimidation. It is about you know, I think sometimes everybody worries so much about, you know, about filing their taxes, and the government loves that. They're just they're just playing off of, you know, this fear that they've created. Right.

We're going to need to extend you so I can do your tax return and get paid twice. So if your pro. Doesn't say, hey, let's get this done, let's get this done today, and worse left, they say hey, let's wait till later in March or April, or worse, let's extend your time frame till October. I would pause on that and say, what's in that for me? Because it's really a financial benefit to the taxpayer. You're later to get her done, you're later to get your money, you're having to do it twice. You should have all your documents unless you're in one of the most extreme, outlying situations waiting on your partnership or your es Corps staff, and that can happen.

So between the newness, between the bad information out there and the media on how you do it or how it works, you know, and just the general differences on the way employers are handling it. There's a lot to watch out for. Another good reason to file early, because if you've got. Tips, or if you've got overtime, you probably do a new benefit. How you get that data is not as simple as a box on the forum this year. You may have to do a little legwork with your pro to calculate it.

And as you say, Mark, I think that's wisdom, is that this is a time to get some help because of you know, all the changes and new things you're dealing with. I mean, people have been working you know more. You know, with a gig economy, you've got non traditional income, multiple jobs, fluctuating pay. This all adds challenges when trying to calculate what qualifies and what doesn't under the updated rules. And this is why you're recommending, Hey, maybe this is the year. If you haven't used a professional before that you should, you know, bring your receipts and get some counsel from people that are up to date with what's happening. Right.

1:30:41 Well, that's exactly right, and it's truly just this simple, and it's always been this simple. I wasn't around in nineteen thirteen when this whole crazy trip started on taxes, but I've been doing it for forty years and the rule is simply this. You know, taxes are complicated, a lot of things to know, a lot of things to watch out for. You either have to invest the time yourself to learn the rule, to learn the nomenclature, to learn the wording to learn how it works especially for you, or you pay someone. There's no shortcut software that's going to answer what is a dependent? How did you get your tip number. You have to do it right and accurate. Are you're cheating yourself or the other side of it doing it too wrong and then having the IRS be interested. But there's no shortcut on the information, the training, the rules, and the knowledge that it takes to do an accurate tax return software AI.

1:31:29 None of that's going to make that go away. It will make it easier to do the research, but it's been easier to do research since the computer. But that doesn't mean that you know, it's just put a number in the box. The number has to be right, or you cheating yourself or you're cheating the government. Either one of those is bad. It has to be accurate because the IRS has an entire wealth of knowledge and data, so it's going to be matching stuff. And so the tax pro who we love it. If your guy rolls his eyes or your woman goes, oh, here it comes Bill again with that shoeise, you probably got the wrong person. But tax people I don't really like doing taxes. They like helping you get all your money. They like keeping the money out of the hands of the government, and they like doing it proactively throughout the year, not on April fourteenth, at midnight, you know, exactly handling those fire drills. So a good pro can lower your stress, get you all the money you deserve, give you tips for planning for next year. And it's always next year, and generally that's a wiser way to go on your single largest transaction, your tax return, which you're going to do twenty thirty, forty to fifty years in some cases.

So you might have missed some planning on your four oh one K and your company match or your HSA or whatever it is you might have, and a tip from a pro can help you do that. Yeah. Now we mentioned people with multiple income sources. What do they need to keep in mind before filing? Well, the simple fact of the matter is much like a lot of things, My taxes are so simple. I don't need to really worry. Yeah, I've not seen that elf ride in the unicorn down the rainbow in a long time. It's just a fantasy. So, whether you've got a simple life change or something more complex like multiple income streams, whether it's two employee jobs, or an employee job and a side hustle, or some intermix of a multitude of those, you have a much different tax profile. You have different withholding considerations. You may have too much withholding for Social Security if you reach that.

1:33:24 Limit, you may have side hustle income. And you need to be making estimates and then deductions and all the rest. I'll simply say I consider multiple jobs kind of a litmus test for well, your taxes are complicated. You need to start thinking broadly about how you get your taxes done and either put in that legwork and research that stuff and read those rules, or get some professional help. It doesn't have to be expensive help. A lot of us are very fairly priced, and if you ask the right questions, you'll go into it knowing what that is. But the point is there's a lot to watch and a lot to watch out for multiple income streams. Ever since the pandemic has kind of been the norm with people having a side hustle. At first just to make ends meet. Now they've realized I kind of like it, or I really do make some good money, but there's some tax opportunity and risk if you don't do it right, So it matters not if you've got one job, two job, five jobs, or three high husciles, cryptocurrency, or if you're retired and you've got five different types of passive income.

I want to understand the different perspectives on whether you know that's a good thing, a bad thing, some of and there's no shortage of opinions on every side, you can imagine, obviously. I mean, I think the fact that we're trying to deal with somebody who has been one of the scourges of civilization for the last forty to fifty years is significant. But anyway, my political stance notwithstanding, because it really doesn't matter. I do think sometimes when I especially when I'm watching like the attack videos, and there's just so much, right. You know, back in the day, you used to wait for Walter Cronkite to come on and give you the war report and the body count, and you know, anybody.

1:40:40 And then you just get numb. After a while, you do get numb. But it was limited, right, I mean, it was maybe you read the newspaper, maybe you watched the evening news exactly. It was a limited amount of information and you trusted the information, right, And now it's an unlimited amount of information, and I have to figure out, is this a source that's likely reporting things that are accurate and true? What's their bias? Is their propaganda here, is there another agenda at work that wants to skew me in one direction or the other. I think it's a lot more work than it used to be, right. Yeah, it really is. You can't you can't approach it like in the old days. I mean, based on eight second sound bites. You know, I think that people are tired of being fooled and I won't get fooled again, Long says exactly. And so you know, you look a little bit deeper. I mean, for me, it's more observational.

1:41:37 I'm looking back and and like you said, you listen to different people, and it's kind of shocking and disappointing, frankly, particularly with leaders in our country. The way they're talking. It's like, wait a minute, you know, can you tap down the political divide here for a moment. I mean, this is this is serious stuff. I mean, first of all, it's historic. Is all get out, Like you said, forty seven years you've had this terrorist regime tormenting the world. You know. I mean one of my earliest memories was, you know, the Iranian Revolution and the fall of the Shaw and the first Kohmanie. I mean, I just I my memories of the late seventies and early eighties are all about that.

Right well, And the thing is, then, you know, you go and you look back in your reading of the Old Testament and you read about Persia. Yeah, and you read how significant Cyrus was in reconstituting the israel nation, Israeli nation. And also then you you also appreciate, which is interesting because when Muslims talk about all the great things that they've done as a people, it mainly came out of Persia. And it wasn't so much that that Persian was so Muslim dominated.

Well, and you know, again for gen xers and younger, Iran has always seemed like the pinnacle of fundamentalist Islam, right, but until that revolution, Iran was actually one of the most moderate, secular countries in the Middle East. Know, it's secular. Oftentimes, when we as Christians talk about something being secular, that's a bad thing. But in this case, it wasn't radicalized, and it wasn't you know, Well it.

But but that's like anything that's like any other any form of government that begins to oppress the people out of their own arrogance and greed. Right right, Oh my god, I'm talking about America. I'm sorry. Well, we don't have that kind of time, do we know. But but yeah, I think that there there's a lot to talk about there, and I think it's an opportunity with our kids. All of these news stories. Uh, if they only ever get sound bites, they're not going to have a comprehensive understanding of what's going on. And so all of these new stories offer an opportunity to to remind them, to teach them, to model for them why history matters, right, because we live in a the irony of our information age is it's almost ahistorical. We live as if yesterday didn't even happen, let alone whatever happened twenty or fifty or one hundred years ago, right.

1:45:17 And we lose the significance of the mission and what exactly right? Exactly? Okay, It's like, no, do you understand this is about freedom? I mean, you've got something like the estimates forty sixty thousand people in the streets of you know, of Iran have been murdered by the IRGC and the local law enforcement and that all in the name of you know, their religious zelotry. And and they're all these people have had their as I say, their Patrick Henry moment of give me liberty or give me death. Okay, kids take notice here, all right? It comes down to that. So if you really truly want to be free and live free, then you've got to understand the principles that support and buttress that concept.

1:46:03 Yeah, And sometimes you are in the place where you have to make the ultimate sacrifice if you're standing up for it exactly. I mean what I suspect that this will become one of those things that the more details that come out in time, the more horrific it's going to be, because it's always a low ball number when we're looking at this point. It's probably more people than that. Yeah, yeah, you're probably You're probably right, and you start looking at because the worst of humanity can come out in situations like this. Uh, you know, rape, pillaging, you know worst you throw out there that seem just so, you know, so neutral. But I'll tell you what, if you're in the middle of the rape and pillaging, not a whole lot of fun. I mean you're talking about is the Bible would talk about you're so fearful that your teeth you're gnashing your teeth.

1:46:55 Yeah. Yeah, And I think bringing our faith to bear isn't always it's not always my first impulse, but I think that all of these stories offer an opportunity to pray for the church. You know, the church has Iran hasn't been an easy place to be a Christian, but there are still some left there. But that they can be, you know, an influence that brings light and life and truth to the carnage, but also just recognizing God's sovereignty over history that I don't have to fret. Right, And sometimes news stories make us anxious. It's like, well, there's a difference between being appropriately concerned with something and being locked.

And if we're engaging with any kind of media, social media, the news in a way that creates that sense of anxiety and agitation, we need to press the pause button and step away and say, Lord, help me, help me to focus on you, to remember what's true, and to be able to see all of these things that I'm looking at from a biblical perspective, from your. Perspective, right, yeah, grant me the wisdom and the understanding as to what it is that you want me to do as opposed to you know, there's a story that we read today again reminded of you know, the story of Lazarus. You know, the poor beggar outside of the rich man's palace and how he was ignored and now he sees him and there he is in the bosom of Abraham, and the poor man is suffering, suffering in hell.

1:48:38 And you know, and sometimes we can be so casual that we just trip over people who are in need. We or we just we just don't see them, you know, we ignore them exactly. And I think that all of our well on my to do list is to to be a human being being who sees others as created in God's image, and that I am alert enough to the spirit's movement that maybe there are times he wants me to do something unexpected, something countercultural, something sacrificial, or just go out of my way to help somebody who needs help, right, you.

1:49:20 See, And we're reminded of that this being the Lenten season, Yeah, is that, you know? And I hear that that keeps coming back. It's a recurring theme of you know what charitable you know, giving what alms giving, because that's a part of lent You know, how charitable are you being? You know, open up your eyes to see where you can be charitable and look for those opportunities, which again is such a blessing. I mean, God, God's just saying, hey, I want to bless you, and we hear that saying you know that, and we've experienced that it's better to give than received, so when we do give Wow, we're so blessed and we thank God for that opportunity. And we're reminded during this Lenten season this is one of the characteristics and the benefits that God is saying, Hey, I want to you know, Adam this, I want to give you this blessing.

1:50:09 Yeah, right, yeah, And we respond by obviously saying thank you. And we have an opportunity to be a blessing to others. And I think, man, we live in a crazy, broken, anxious world. Bill. It's an anxious system from top to bottom. And well, because we're disconnected, we're disconnected from God. If you're with God, you don't have anxiety. You know, you're connected to the world. The world is full of anxiety. Welcome to the pool, you know, right. But we have an opportunity, I think, to be to be voices of hope and redemption. And you know, I think about I think it's in one Peter, you know, always be ready to give an answer for those who ask about the hope that is within you. I think that when we live as people of hope, people notice, even quietly, not like I'm wearing a T shirt that says, ask me about my hope. Although you know, if you want to do that, great, But we're different, right.
